OK. Here is the draft of my idea
[I was painting like crazy on Sunday!]
I came to some conclusions after last Prague Conventions:
1. we need more gaming (of course),
2. we need a campaign play at last!
Ad 1) I really adored the scenarios/missions we played this year. They were fun, they were balanced and people got involved. But it took time to prepare them and set them and the playing time was sometimes long. So my first idea is: Mission Standardization (or Mission types). There could be some mission types played one after another, maybe randomly chosen. Faster, shorter and played in a swapping side system. I mean: a) Dawn Patrol, b) Recon, c) Bombing, d) Balloon busting e) ...
After deciding which mission is played, it is then played swapping sides.
Points are awarded or deducted depending on the outcome.
Ad 2) Now things will get harder. We shall probably have two (or three) separate campaigns/tables. A pilot once enlisted in a Campaign (
WGF,
WGS:
BoB, Pacific ...) will continue his/her story throughout the Con.
Some other rough ideas.
Careers: There is no death (Hurrah!) Pilots always return to fight another mission, even if they are shot down. In that case they loose a specific number of points. Or they can start a new career if they wish so, with a blank record.
Points and awards are to be decided. Medals, ace abilities earned as well. This is not a real issue.
My idea is to get participants involved in a running campaign.
[We can even add some special character features to our alter egos/campaigners bringing it closer to RPG system...If you have ever came across a system like FFG Star Wars: Edge of the Empire there is a character feature like "Obligation" of a character which determines his/her decisions in the course of the game. Just a thought.]
OK, no your thoughts
