By the way, do you know why the Germans never had a chance on the Western front, gentlemen?
I think I see 8?
After 4 hours of driving I am finally home, welcomed by my daughter who started asking about the Con results!
Tired, but in seventh heaven!
Here are we together showing my prize and the bottle of wine my wingman Sven kindly brought me .
I am sure the heart of the Game was beating in Prague this weekend
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
So hope that the Polish Contingent will have at least 4 member next year (Andrzej +1, Rafał and Darek)!
By the way Andrzej, you have a point for perfect outfit for the Con
I hope this works. I made a Magisto "movie" from the photos:
http://www.magisto.com/video/YQcCZlUaBDsuBgZiCzE
Bombarded by all these goodies and fresh back from Triples and tired out myself, where do I start.
First congratulations to all concerned for the wonderful array of pictures, and that wonderful video Jan.
Next to Andrzej for his comments and pictures.
You all obviously had a whale of a time.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
What a nice video Watchdog, thank you
Thank you for the reputation, gentlemen.
If you like the Magisto movie, try it, it is for free. Just don't install it, use the website. It takes a while, but it does not Big Brother your PC then. It is simple, you choose up to 30 photos, then choose the theme, the music and you can adjust the length of the video a bit. The Magisto does the rest for you. It works with videos too, but I have not tried it yet.
Guys, small Serbian task force arrived to the base safe and sound.
We had a great time playing and debriefing with all those wonderful people
Good to know you made it back home safe .
I liked the wwii classic tunes sang by the Aerodrome International Ensemble in the pub. That was a classic moment.
Thank you for this display of the Con Result, Honza.
Again my (our) Czech friends surprised me (us) with a perfect organisation, great scenarios and a hearty atmosphere. Thank you very much.
Respect to all participants that drived for hours to join us in Prague, no matter if they came from other countries or parts of the Czech Republic.
My thanks to all the player's young families members that released their pilots to fly with & celebrate with us the whole weekend.
Special thanks to the game designer Andrea (and his family) that visited & talked with us about our beloved hobby and history. (I've got some signed plane cards, now!)
At last big "thank you" to Ladinek who gave us the chance to hold the Con in his shop again.
I'm going to post some reports as blogs again for this Summer Con. I'll keep you informed when the'll be published, because we have some nice stories for you.
So let me end this post with a typical "last beer" picture in a Czech bar near the Con location.
...and special thanks to Sascha (Kancelot) who explained us that the the last beer must not be necessarily the last beer.
(you can see from the right to the left: me/Sascha/Andrea/Mario/Markus - Andrzej took the picture)
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I can only echo what Sven wrote. Not only the Con itself improves every year, but the social aspect of it (beer briefings ) as well.
The Czech Wing invested a great deal of time (and money - superb prizes!) to please the participants.
And of course Andrea's visit with his wife and daughter this year made the whole event very special.
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Well done and congratulations to all the winning pilots.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Some of the memorabilia gifts i have brought home
2. Sven gave me his precious Land Lease Coin, which i really appreciate. I will become an initiative token for
my new night fight house rules.
3. Nemanja provided me with this Serbian Messy
4. Andy's personal triplane, which i am bound to build now
5. Lucky Zero created by Andrea
6. My beloved "Duck" with Andrea's blessing
Thank you dear friends.
yep, and the price, as i got lucky this time (with a great help of DVII maneuver deck)
What a great set of mementos you have there Jan.
As we all gradually meet up, these things accumulate and will be with us all our lives.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
This thread makes me wish I could hop on a plane and get out there for your next get-together!
Which makes me wonder...
I know there are a number of WoG games at Origins, and a smattering of them at various cons around the U.S., but are there any WoG-only events in the States? If not, it sure looks like it'd be fun to give it a try.
Guys, did someone take picture of Michal's winning Gladiator?
Mine turned out really well and are on the way to the cloud where will be available to you guys soon.
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Here it is.
Michal gave me decals for this repaint.
There is a plane card for it in the Revolution in the Skies card booster.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I have sent you guys a link to my cloud folder with pics from Prague. Please feel free to view and download the pictures and share this link with anybody interested.
The lucky Zerstoerer Black "Nightbomber" player .
5 points of damage after a succesful ground attack mission over Dieppe (one 25 pts damage target destroyed).
I was happy to fly this mission with Sven - at last we could fly together, discuss tactics and cooperate smoothly! We both anihillated two gun emplacements - one each!
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Checked the link and was surprise about the brillant quality.
Nice pictures!
Of coures this mission was real fun to fly. We did a good job my friend.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Guys let me say a few words about the missions that took place during the Con. I really enjoyed almost all of them. Some of them were greatly balanced, some of them were out of balance but very innovative. I personally liked the most both Kubajs's missions and Andy's Tank Attack.
Kubajs's "Secret Task" was a symmetrical design, where both teams picked secretly one of available three tasks to carry out. There was some intense bluffing going on, and since the mirror design, the mission was greatly balanced. It was tense to the last second, when the escaping Kubajs's fighter, chased by Jelena across the both mats, managed to make it home, and ensure the win. His other mission - Bloody Russian front - wold have proven itself yet better if there was more time to let it bloom out.
Andy came up with a superbly innovative Tank Attack mission, using his favourite cart deck to move tanks and resolve some other game mechanics. The game expanded our great blue WoG universe with earthbound operations, employing moving tanks and antitank guns, and some other nifty stuff. There were many unofficial aircraft flying around, some of them allowed to shoot at tanks only (a nice job for the overpowered beasts), some of them allowed to shoot at the other aircraft only. I strongly believe the mission deserves some further balancing (for example the anti tank guns seemed to be way too strong) to show its massive potential in full.
His other mission was the biggest surprise to me - it was the Easy Zeppelin. With 18 people taking part in it and initial 100 points of damage for the Zeppelin, it first seemed to be a catastrophe. Well, it wasn't. Although my guess was that British would score about 15-20 hit cards a turn at the Zeppelin, making the game really short, it turned out that those good islanders left the airship alone and started chasing the German airplanes, hitting the Zepp only when nobody was in sights. These hunter instincts naturally balanced the mission without any extra rules necessary. The mission ended up with 98 hits to the Zepp, and left me with three scalps on my belt (thank you "Schmutzig Hermy").
I am really sorry i couldn't give a try to Sven's bombing mission, i believe it must have been a lot of fun with all the big birds and 3 mats.

34 new photos are being uploaded to my Praga folder on Google disc right now...
Now you could access the photos with this link as well (probably):
https://drive.google.com/folderview?...Ws&usp=sharing
It may take 15-20 minutes to see the uploaded stuff...
Enjoy,
Andy.
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Downloaded! Great pics
The new ones are still on the way, though. It takes some time...
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
What a superb set of memories you have there Andy.
Good to see Kyte in amongst it without a suggestion of smoke, let alone fire!
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
That must have been where all his luck had gone this weekend Andy.
Usually his alter ego von Kytel has loads of luck but this weekend got downed twice. Tenente Kyteoni downed twice. Kyte only came through in one of his two games, and that was because time ran out.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Brilliant pictures Andy - think my favourite is of Nemanya with the zero chits !
Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
That wasn't the only instance guys. Nemanja has become known for his ability to somehow attract zero hits.
A real partisan in the skies.
You know he's there.
You hear his engine, but you do not see him until his bullets ripp through your fuselage.
You fire at him, but without effect.
...and when you finally jump out of your burning Focke-Wulf 190A6 over enemy teritory, you see him waving from his open cockpit of his Polikarpov I-16.
Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
I spoke about a museum of the air battle over Kovářská on 9th September 1944 during the con.
Here is a link to the museum website: http://new.museum119.cz/en/

A Youtube video document (in Czech, unfortunately, but it contains some great material), at 2:05 the part about the air battle starts: https://youtu.be/vSiSjp8GPdE?t=2m5s
Edit: And as I said, the museum crew helped significantly to return a missing P-51 pilot home after almost 60 years: http://www.museum119.cz/courtesies/L...s_021102ba.jpg

Thanks Jan. It was very interesting to see the materials ou brought to the Con. I do hope to visit this museum in near future.
Do you think driving from direction Chemnitz/Germany is more convenient/faster? Are there kind of mountainous "steepy" roads - from which side?

"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Hello again and thanks to everybody!
Finally back to my computer, I want to thank you again for the great time I had with you! It has been really a joy to meet all of you by person. Prague Summer Con is an outstanding event of gaming and friendship. It has been fun to play and great to chat with you with no computer screens and thousands of kms of wires in between - maybe just a table with mats and miniatures on it, or a few beers (depending on the time of the day).
The creativity and skills that you put into scenarios, new rules, new miniatures is amazing. The same for the game materials, the joyful prizes and the souvenirs of the Con. All was outstanding, and the location too - I wish I had such a club & shop near home.
I too took a few photos. I posted some of them during the event for the joy (or the envy) of those who were not there. If you are on FaceBook you can see them here:
https://www.facebook.com/andrea.angi...0972544&type=3
Some are also on BGG at the pages of the WW1 and WW2 Rules & Accessories pack. I have been scarce in captions - feel free to comment and add info. Now I am a bit unorganized and scarce in internet time (we were back to a house in the hands of workers, more a buinding yard than a home) but soon I will try to add more and to better credit the one I hastly posted while things happened.
Some snapshots there...

There would be more, but for the moment duty calls me...
I wish I was less split between you and my non-gaming family (Jelena you are lucky to have a gaming husband!) to play and talk more... In any case, these have been memorable days. Thanks again to all of you!
Andrzej, since the village Kovářská is almost at the border with Germany, going from a mountain top to a mountain top, you should expect mountainous terrain, it is not the Himalayas though.
According to Google Maps it should take you less than six hours to drive there through Chemnitz. This route seems the best to me.
Note, that it is close to Karlovy Vary. You could take your family for a weekend there and go see the museum.
Thanks for even more pictures of the con Andrea.
Your remarks about meeting friends over a beer, takes me right back to that memorable evening in Rome this time last year and your wonderful company, over a few drinks and cheese with Attilio, Eileen and myself.
Maybe we can repay your hospitality one day here in the U.K.
Doncaster is open house to any Drome member.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
It's great seeing all of these folks having what seems to be a great time - fun planes, fun scenarios, fun times! Like others have said, it's a shame to be so far away from it all.
Thanks for sharing your enjoyment of the game with us who couldn't be there
All the best,
Matt
