Thank you for opening this thread here, Daniel.

    Of course I'm in again.

Unfortunately ther's a "vacation stop" for all Bavarian police officers from 18.05. - 07.06. so all weekends around would be prefect for me.

This shouldn't be a deadzone for voting, comrades. Due to my shift work, a participation in this two weeks is possible, but not for the full 3 days.

For hosting scenarios I would volunteer for a WW II nightbombing mission and a WW I Caproni bombing mission again. (...hoping to include the new series 8 Italian flyboats )
    Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!

That is exactly why we voting - for finding best weekend for most of us. I hope we all meet again.

And the second thing - I am very glad, Sven, you mentioned Con missions and game mastering. I note it - sounds good!

I am sure we can adjust the date, Sven. I am preparing a brand new idea for the Con. Will post the concept soon

I guess it's to early for Jelena and me to think about exact date, but count us in

While riding back home last time (13 hours in the bus gave me a lot of time to think ) I had some ideas about determining points and allocating prizes Prague Con.

Basic idea was to actually discourage harvesting and to reward good pilots, those who maneuver well and manage to put themselves in advantageous position.

    1) MORE DETAILED VERSION
(In this version each winning mission or game point would bring 1 point):

Each aerial victory brings 1 point
Each time you inflict more damage cards to the opponent (or same number, but with advantage), you get 1 point (A inflicts 2 cards, receives 2 card = 0 points; A inflicts 1, receives 1 = 0 points; A inflicts 2, receives 1 = A gets 1 point; A inflicts same number of cards as opponent(s), but A has Cards with +1 = A gets 1 point; A inflicts any number of cards, but opponent(s) inflict more, 0 points to A, possible points for opponent(s) etc.)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    2) LESS DETAILED VERSION
(In this version each winning mission or game point would bring 2 points):
Each aerial victory brings 2 points
Each card inflicted brings 1 point
Shooting from advantageous position (cards with +1) brings +1 point (never mind one or two cards)
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IN BOTH VERSIONS each player starts the game with the same number of tokens (say, 10). For each time player is “overshot” by the opponent, he gives the opponent determined number of tokens. After game is finished, any token after 10th represents claimed points.
(if someone runs out of tokens, it would be nice to have some reserve tokens).
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    PRIZES
We all go to Con to have a good time and play interesting game with fine people. But, if the prizes exist, it perhaps would be fair to rank them by “importance”. All prizes already exist.
Don’t take Prize names literally (of course they could be named in different matter). I just wanted to point “importance” of each prize out - I believe overall is most important prize, followed by best pilot, best game pointer and then mission winner.

    1. Prague Con Grand Prix - overall winner (Pilot points + winning missions + game points summed together)
    2. Prague Con Gold Wings (I, II, III class) for best, 2nd, 3rd pilot
    3. Prague Con Silver Wings (I, II, III class) for best, 2nd, 3rd game pointer
    4. Prague Con Recommendations for best, 2nd, 3rd victory mission participant

    What do you think?

Oh, I forgot, Nemanja. My apologies to you

I have one more suggestion: we discussed of using KotA experience system for the Con - player with most XP win.

    No problem at all

Any system which will make substantial difference, but preserve fun aspect of the game is completely fine with me!

Dear Friends, you are all heading towards the right direction! Campaign I say, Campaign is what we really need for the next Con. As I am typing on a tablet now, give me some time to lay out my concept. What Nemanja wrote, as many games as possible and the greatest deal of fun as never before must be provided!

No worry Initial thought: a Big Mission at the end of each day of the Con. Friday: WGF (my huge Zeppelin Mat maybe...), Saturday: WGS (to be decided)

But a campaign probably exludes changing tables (WWI and WWII). Do you count with it? All day or Con only with one of wars?

Campaign has an experience system as I mentioned above - easy and punitive been shot down

With honor, for me, as GM, looks Nemanjas system little complicated

  13. #13

    Default

It does, at glance - but it's actually simple. Any advantage you make, you get token from particular opponent. Tokens are easy to make and don't take much space. One player should be elected by GM to distribute them.

Of course, if campaign system is easier to run, I have no objections at all. And you are quite right about WW1 and WW2. Perhaps Friday for WW1 (even at more than one table) and saturday for WW2 missions (even at more than one table)? And on Sunday - total friendly games?

  14. #14

I was thinking about WWI and WWII thematic days, but there is a small problem (or complication) - in 16+ players, all missions would be huge. We need discuss it much more.

Definitely I'm looking forward for next Prague Con. I really love the atmosphere. Meeting friends, having fun with them, play some great games, get the inspiration – that’s what it’s about. Much more than about prices. However, I’d like to suggest two new contests:

The (re)painting contest – because of the inspiration for all of us and because it’s nice to have the opportunity to admire the work of those who are skillful (more skillful than me )

The young pilot (under 15 or 18) trophy – because it’s good to encourage young players

    What do you think?

Great ideas. One suggestion: Repaints must be done exclusively for the Con, never presented before and stored secretly in Ladinek's closet

But WWI only in gentlemen room and WWII in ladies room (as a special honour to WAAF)

OK, seriously now: I support both ideas, but for both are necessary to have at least 3+ participants.

Dear Czech Wing (and specially Lada), have you been considering to offer July as option? At least first and second weekend? Maybe it would open new date to fit all pilots?

We can discuss it, but it probably not bring new possibilities - it is a camp time for my and Kubaj's units. And if I remember well, the big discomfort of the Con 2013 was really hot weather.
Let's see what Doodle tell us after filling it by the rest (Andrea, Radouch, Kancelot, BroukPytlik etc.).

The painting contest is defenitely something I look forward to. But due to lack of space and time, all aircraft leave the factory un-painted. In other words no airbrush painting is done at the moment. Our 3 months old daughter has claimed my hobby quarters as her bedroom and therefore all painting equipment has been put away in boxes. The only painting I can do is with the brush and that's not the techinque I want to use on these planes.

Family live and the still ongoing renovation of our house is proving to be a devestating enemy for WOG but one I'm happy to surrender to (for now). Our childeren give me so much in return. Once the renovation is done I should have a super deluxe hobby room.

However I've promised the Oberst to paint a plane for the next LL so why not paint a second one for Prague.... Stuff in boxes can be un-boxed....

I really look forward on meeting you all again. I'm not the most talkative guy around here but I do consider you as my friends and prefer meeting you in real life and have a conversation face-to-face.

Last of June, or first of July - there's no much difference. But, if this will cut two valiant pilots out, no need to try, I agree.

Painting contest is great idea and I support it completely. Will it be two separate contests, WW1 and WW2, or All In One?

About painting contest i have an idea to start this year with "All in One" contest.
And the winner will have the right to specify the theme for next year.

OK. Here is the draft of my idea [I was painting like crazy on Sunday!]
I came to some conclusions after last Prague Conventions:
    1. we need more gaming (of course),
    2. we need a campaign play at last!

Ad 1) I really adored the scenarios/missions we played this year. They were fun, they were balanced and people got involved. But it took time to prepare them and set them and the playing time was sometimes long. So my first idea is: Mission Standardization (or Mission types). There could be some mission types played one after another, maybe randomly chosen. Faster, shorter and played in a swapping side system. I mean: a) Dawn Patrol, b) Recon, c) Bombing, d) Balloon busting e) ...
After deciding which mission is played, it is then played swapping sides.
Points are awarded or deducted depending on the outcome.

Ad 2) Now things will get harder. We shall probably have two (or three) separate campaigns/tables. A pilot once enlisted in a Campaign (WGF, WGS: BoB, Pacific ...) will continue his/her story throughout the Con.
    Some other rough ideas.
Careers: There is no death (Hurrah!) Pilots always return to fight another mission, even if they are shot down. In that case they loose a specific number of points. Or they can start a new career if they wish so, with a blank record.
Points and awards are to be decided. Medals, ace abilities earned as well. This is not a real issue.
My idea is to get participants involved in a running campaign.
[We can even add some special character features to our alter egos/campaigners bringing it closer to RPG system...If you have ever came across a system like FFG Star Wars: Edge of the Empire there is a character feature like "Obligation" of a character which determines his/her decisions in the course of the game. Just a thought.]

    OK, now your thoughts

    OK, no your thoughts
Strongly support your campaign idea, but I think some penalisation for been shot down (-4 points for example) is necessary. But agree with no "real" death of pilots.

Agree! For being shot down, points should be deducted from the score, and one ability (if present) randomly lost.

But, please, without resurrection during the game pilot was shot down.

Also, using of the Boom card should be revised, I guess.

Absolutely no resurrection this time. I agree. XP card usage is to be discussed as well.

    Hi guys,

I hope we will have again a lot of well prepared scenarios for the Con 2015. What I liked most last time was the opportunity to try scenarios for different period and freedom of choice for everyone. One could start with early WW2 then switch to WW1 two hours later ending the day with WW2 late scenario. That was really good and I propose to stick to that possibility. If we go for campaigns people will stick to one type of plane for longer time.

That's of course my humble opinion and in fact I'm looking forward to fly with you whatever the mission would be ;-)

  48. #48

    Default

Switching from WW1 to WW2 is O.K. if each respective time-line is uninterrupted. We start in 1915, switch to 1939, switch back to 1916 etc. In that manner continuity of campaign is obtained, and players will get the chance to fly different machines.

Maybe some overall guidelines should be made. For example, we need 3 furballs (1915, 1917, 1918, one year each), 2 bombing missions (1 in 1916 for Centrals and 1 for Allies in 1917), 1 balloon busting (in 1916) etc. Early WW1 scenarios could be played even 1 on 1 on few tables at the same time.

Same system could be used for WW2.

This would help about creating particular scenarios.

OK, it is time to post about two events during our Con. During the last one, the Sunday was only an epilogue of the great Saturday (and Friday, of course), so we have two ideas.

    1. I discuss with Sven (Marechallanes) that many of us want to try Sails of Glory. Jan (Honza) knows many others aviation games, so what about "An hour of non-WoG gaming"? Everybody can try something new in this "blind hour".
    2. May be you know, that during WWII there was an assassination of the Reich Protector in Prague (Operation Anthropoid). In the church, where paratroopers lost their lives, there is National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror and a fine atmospheric pub "U Parašutistů" nerby, so we can visit it and take a lunch there.

What do you think about it?
