Why or why am I so afraid to fly? I would love to make it to Prague, as well as visiting my UK wingman.

We have finally secured the last bombing zeppelin and all Entente defenders except Keith's Camel were shot down. My D.III survived getting 10 damage points and engine damaged. A great and well thought scenario.

Now the tank hunting mission begins

After two victories, I was shot down during the second turn of the next game...

Dear Kyte, thank you for lending me your "K" Camel. Unfortunately, I have to say I was shot down with it during the first flight and your loved machine is in fire now. I am sure I can pay you the whole price for it only in seventeen years...
    God safe the King!

I want to first say thank you to our Prague pilots for hosting me and making me feel like one of the group. And a special thanks to Lada for letting us fly in his shop, what a great place to have Summer Con.
I had a really great time meeting, flying and socializing with everyone.

I will make a more detailed report after I return State side.

It was truly a great afternoon, evening and night of gaming, talking and usual beer-breefing. I hope Herr Oberts's inspection on the Eastern Front went quite well.
It's my 4th gaming visit to Prague () and our Czech colleagues. Some short AARs and photos will be hopefully posted tonight and I must tell you in advance: some of the encounters in the air we faced were just epic! [Daniel will tell the stories his grandsons, I'm sure ]
    Thanks to all participants

I am very, very sorry chaps, but due to uploading pics Forum malefunction (mo multipics uploading option and very long time waiting for a single upload) I can not post the AARs with pictures tonight - since the photos are very important - as usual I'll try tomorrow. Just hold your breath, right

This is the start of the 1st out of 3 missions we managed to play...

Rob, it was way better and fancy than you might think Your Camel has never been in action like that and... survived (for a moment). I will try tomorrow uploading the pics. You won't regret. This time fire and head-guided bullets were on my side

OK, the sad story of "K" Camel:

    • 1st turn: OK, no shooting.
    • 2nd turn, 1st move: 4x A damage (0+1+0+5)
    • 2nd turn, 2nd move: 2x A damage (0+2)
    • 2nd turn, 3rd move: 2x A damage "+1" (2[+1]+3[+1]) -> total 15 points -> shot down

  36. #36

Ouch.. Thats lots of damage... In a too short period of time!
Well one time i was playing a 3 vs 3 game. Well in the first encounter two of my planes got shot by the damn explosion token...
    Thanks

    Default Prague AARs Part I

Here is a brief description how it all went. And it went really well
After 4 hours of driving from Opole I checked in in the Boat Hotel on Vltava river. Then rode to Prague centre to pick up Herr Oberst from his place. Smoothly. We arrived to our friendly Ladinek's shop where we hold our Prague Con annual summer games at 16:15. The group of Czech pilots were already in the air, so we spent some time searching the shop for WoG minis and we found plenty!
Then the rest of Czech Wing under Dan-Sam arrived and after a of Kubajs's home made drink to our honorable guest we set up the first scenario:

    The Zeppelin Attack
    .

Two zeps escorted by German fighters were sent to bomb a city. I was honoured to fly a D.III in the front of one of the Zeps, while Herr Oberst joined the attackers in his Camel. The group attacking my zone was led by Michal, driving a B&W Brisfit, the dread B/A version, which he piloted with usual perfection.

The defenders' goal was to eliminate the attacking two seaters first. But Michal was clever enough to show me his plane's back only which resulted in my engine getting cough! cough!.
I barely escape the doom, but we finally repelled the attackers on my zep. Michal was shot down and I engaged the camo SE5a.

Herr Oberst says: "I got you know!"

    And flies to victory...

The other zep was less lucky. Herr Oberst did his best and his flight managed to shoot it down, but Oberst's Camel took the beating showing a nice trail of fire.

At the end of the day we saw an aircraft graveyard, but Keith and myself left the battlefield in (rather) good shape. The target was bombed and the German side won the day.

The second AAR : Stop the Tanks! will follow soon. Stay tuned

A very nice looking scenario Andy.
I think that this could be a first.Pictures of two Zeps together in an AAR other than at a Con.

Default Prague AAR part 2: Stop the Tanks!

Oh boy! If you want to live your life a "life that is full" [my beloved Frank Sinatra] come to Prague. These guys can invent the wildest scenario you could dream about (Prague Con 2015 is in the works, so think about it!). Now face the Stop the Tanks we played 48 hours ago. We, I mean: Herr Oberst, Daniel. Czech Wing Commander, Kubajs, Sasha, Zdenek and his son, Michal, Martin the newbie, Jasuna Kozono and me sorry if I have missed anybody...

It was a mirror scenario. Both teams had two 2 seaters plus two fighter escorts. Their goal was to destroy advancing WWI tanks on the other sides of the river. Dan-sam asked me to drive a bomber; I replied: Man, I am a PoorBomber, gimme a fighter. Herr Oberst replied: "Man, you are the Nightbomber!" [Frankly I was given a D.VII ]

Here we go. Keith took the stick of the 2seater, while Sasha (Udet) and me (Shaeffer) were the escorts

    The Entente flight...

The CP side with Herr Oberst in his Ufag

Now you see my D.VII heading toward the bloody 2seaters... Where is my Sasha (Udet) wingman, By Jove!

OK, I spread the lead over the invaders, but came into a deadly crossfire

... with the most expected outcome! Those b...y gunners set my kite on fire [noooooo!]

No matter the heat, I will follow the two seaters...

...and I am staying on target...

    Yes!

Well, that does not help anyway. My crate is consumed by fire, while Herr Oberst's plane is shot down on approach.

At the end of the day, the mission is a draw (tanks are destroyed with heavy losses on both sides. If I am mistaken, please correct me chaps).

The mission was a blast, but the real fun came with the third one... Clash of the Aces! Stay tuned...

Default Prague AAR part 3: Clash of the Aces!

OK, now we turn to the third scenario played on the Sep. 2nd in Prague. We wanted all our pilots to take part in that so devised a scenario suitable for everybody. The Czech Wing Commander Daniel (AKA Dan -Sam) asked me to run the game and I followed with pleasure.
    How it all began? Simple!
We all have the Ace Abilities cards available through BGG store. So I devided the players into 2 groups [5 CP fighters and 4 E fighters - an odd number of players] and distributed the Ace cards freely, giving 2 f them to Herr Oberst flying his famous Nieuport 17 for the Entente. The cards were about to reveal while a certain skill is to be applied (perfect aim, acrobatic pilot etc.). I draw a "Strong Constitution" card...

Below you can see Dan-Sam briefing the newbie Entente pilot...

Nightbomber's Fokker is heading toward Herr Oberst's Nieuport (My Primary Goal )

While on the other side of the mat Daniel, flying the famous K Camel, is in the dire straits

Now - on the right side of the mat - Herr Oberst's Nieuport comes into a possible crossfire of the German brave fighters: Zdenek's Son and me...

Dan-Sam flying the most famous Forum Camel is shot down...

...while Herr Oberst is in a real trouble under Nightbomber's guns

Bah! He flies the Nieuport with excellence fooling me badly!!!

Herr Oberst immelmans to face the enemy, whlie I make a right turn just to face my destiny...

We both are tightening out turns to get on enemy's tail...

... just to be shot down parallelly! It was the Mutual Assured Destruction

    ----------------------------------

After the war we took a common picture of the core team

A beer briefing in a friendly traditional Czech pub was a must. They should give as a discount card for 2015, what do you think about it Daniel

From Left to right: Keith, Daniel, Ladinek, Martin, Jakub, Sasha, Andrzej.

I am correcting you about the second mission (Catch that tanks!): Central Powers (my team) won. We destroyed both tanks and 2 of 4 enemy planes (including Nightbomber's) and Entante destroyed only one tank and no plane.

    Sorry, we won

Thanks very much for giving us all an insight into the great time you all had in Prague Andy.
A scoop for your Ace reporter. It is good to see that my Camel fares just as well with other pilots as when I fly it myself. All that was lacking was the gin fumes factor, so no fire.
