Thread: What's On Your Workbench for September?

    Default What's On Your Workbench for September?

    Sure, I have dozens of planes I should be working on, but at the moment I'm ripping apart a really nasty looking refit Enterprise for STAW.

    The thing has to have one of the worst paint jobs of any pre-painted mini I have purchased.

    And the left nacelle was way out of alignment. I had to break it off, trim the remains out of the slot, and glue it back on. It's now waiting for paint.

    Oh, those figures in the background are the 15mm Astro Crew minis that I've had for over a year. I need to get cracking on them for my 50th birthday FASA Trek game.

    What I hope to do this month:

    Finish painting a seaboat that wants to fly to Malta in the UK;
    Build 2 Nieuport 11 in paper (one of them in German colours);
    Build 2 paper float planes for WW2;
    Paint 4 Swordfishes;
    Paint 4 CR32's;
    Paint 4 FW-190A's;
    Paint 2 Betties.

    And if I make half of this I'll be more than glad...

    I am working on some F-Toys Japanese sea planes. Thanks to Bob i will be adding a Condor to my long range recon fleet. Some Shapeways WW1 planes are on order. My big project is getting out a small loop of my N-Scale TTrak layout and getting it ready to represent a WW1 era layout. That will be Displayed at Biplanes and Triplanes in four weeks.

    If I could find my work bench I'd tell you! It's somewhere here under all these model kits!

    My first three of the month. An F-Toys Kawanishi N1K Rex. an F-Toys Aichi E16A Paul and a Die cast Focke-Wulf FW 200 Condor. All nice additions to my Over water forces!

    I ordered the Condor from a site that was listed in here. Let me look back and see if I can find it. The Condor is 1/144 and it has 4 different languages printed on the backing. I have 4 B-17's that are from AMERCOM. Again all these die cast models came from Europe. The last 5 I bought on E-Bay were 10 EU each. The shipping was the killer. 50 EU for the planes and 37EU for shipping but to me it was worth the price.

    Didn't realize the Condor was as big as a B-17. Now wonder why they never knew they had a long range bomber.

    The Condor is a beauty. But as a bomber it was very fragile...

    My Workbench for Sep is the same as for June - August Taking into account my event activities in September (Prague and Doncaster) I'll be happy to finish the started projects by December

    This was a common failing of the -200 -- it hadn't been designed for the loads and abuses seen by a bomber.

    Good photo and thanks for the info. So far have finished in 1/144 Nate/Nell/2 Finnish planes. Have to get the other Nell's done .

    A good design for an airliner, does not make a good weapons platform!

    Working on the Nate's and Nell's so we might have a China game at the Muster. I also have some Claude's to build. The Nell's are pretty nice. They have a torpedo but if you mount it you can't mount the plane. When I finish another one I will take some photos and post them with a fighter escort. Oh and I also have some Ann's. I have cards for the Nate but not the others.

    Look here for a great comparison of the various diecast planes (excluding the more recent Amercom):

    And for the Condor here:

    Also Rob, is that a latrecoere 298 on your workbench (in 1/200 I guess)?

    True enough, tho' in the -200's case, it was more a problem of having to operate from poor-grade airfields with those loads.

    what a lovely and varied array of a/c!!!! though of course i think the b-17cs are the best!!!! after seeing the boeing 306 all painted up it does have a certain elegance to it though.

    i am constantly amazed at varied scope and detail of your work!!!!

    If I were doing that many B-17s I'd probably do a Vic each from five of the most famous squadrons... have to find a 15th kit to complete the last box though, unless that slot's reserved for Memphis Belle.
