Thread: New arrivals at my airfield!

  1. #1

Default New arrivals at my airfield!

Hardly worthy of a new thread, but wanted to excitedly tell some people who would understand! Have received my duel boxes and a further Dr.I i ordered (couldn't ignore the classic MvR crate!) and have 'em lined up for action. Now to buy every other one i can (not) afford!

On the downside, first ever game I somehow find myself out of position and my opponent got the first shot - explosion. Not sure I've ever had such a quick first experience of a new hobby (and i had thoroughly shuffled the deck!)! Nonetheless feel hooked, have already drawn up my excel list of aircraft to get over the next few months - couple more scouts then 2-seaters, bombers and balloons!

Well worthy of a new thread Jon.
Some of us can still remember that tingle of excitement when the first boxed set arrived at the door.
Some of us still do when a new set comes out.
Enjoy every minute of it mate.

I have to line mine up Jon and take a photo,I've just got both duel packs along with an extra camel the new Fokker and two two seaters.I fancy getting another two two seaters and a couple of scouts already.

Well ahead of me Trumpet - extremely jealous! I'm planning a pair of camels and Dr.I to allow me to form two single-aircraft flights, then the two seaters (and an R&A pack). That should be the next month or so covered, then I'm after a Gotha and a balloon i think, before descending into a general chaos of buying anything that looks like a nice-to-have, which is of course everything. Might try to cram a play mat or two in at some point to give a bit more atmosphere than my table provides!

Pondering a side project to create a sort of airfield diorama as a place to store my planes on a shelf in my home office, seems a more fun way than just putting them in boxes. Shapeways does do some nice 1/144 hangars...

R and A pack is being re printed next month but in the meantime I printed of the B damage deck from the file section on here so I could use my two seaters,so you could do that if your not to concerned about the advanced rules and get some more planes with that cash saved.

I wasn't aware of that, and am only really getting it for Damage B,C,D decks but guess printing and having an extra few planes is never a bad plan!

If you get really hooked, Jon, a shelf will not be big enough.

Always nice to look at someone else' aircraft. Hope you have as much fun buying, collecting, building, painting, playing, and looking, at as I have had.

A good thread Jon! I know how you are feeling because i received my WWII minis last week and did a thread too! Those bi(tri)planes are beautiful and I hope you can have ferocious battles with them.
    Thanks

On the upside, games from here on out it has to get better than your starting experience!

Next you'll be posting on the addiction thread, first complaining, then giving in. The planes will multiply very quickly and your addiction grows to have a life of its own.
The true meaning of a '12 Step Program' is that planes are released in sets of 12.

Oh god it really is an addiction isn't it? Went to buy another camel online today, came away a lot lighter indeed. Photos to follow when the next arrivals land at my airfield

Your symptoms are commonly known here and easily identified. The illness is progressing as normal. Unfortunately the cure has not been found yet.

There are a lot worse things to do out there. This money is well spent as you will enjoy it over and over again. Better than renting a pint or two at the pub and returning it to them before you leave.

Which reminds me I need to post a new addiction status photo....
Let me just finish off my new bomber gimbles first...

That's the scientific name of the illness.
There is no cure for it...
You'll have to take medicine for the rest of your life.
It comes in little packages (at least) monthly bought.
