    Over-enthusiastic masking tape can be used as a selective acryllic paint-stripper.
    Just press it on well, then rip off quickly - you'll be left with the enamel undercoat.

    See also: when life hands you a lemon, look up recipes for lemonade, lemon meringue pie, lemon curd etc.

    Good one Zoe, and just to think I have only just found out how to stop masking tape ripping off the underlying paint.

    Maybe use the blue stuff, which has a 'gentler' adhesive?

    I daren't tell you what I have "botch" fixed with masking tape & Don10, though I am sure some ex service types will have very similar stories
