That is an interesting 'find', Zoe. You do discover some good things.
Also since the original job of the flying corps was scouting, which was the primary job of the cavalry, there's that connection.
Plus, most of the cavalry was doing diddly by 1915 (at least on the Western Front), so most of the personnel that actually wanted to do something, found their way into the air units.
