I need surnames for Hedeby and HTRAINo for tickets for the show
Unloading and set up times are Saturday 7.30am to 9.45am.
I intend to be there around 0830
See you there
OK I'll be there nice and early, a feel another great weekend coming on.
Lock 'n' load gents!
As for table options, how do we want the general layout to look?
Participation all day? Or a set time or times?
Spawn locations could be fun for a 'rolling' game period. Say 30mins as filler games?
Some cruel AA fire might also be on the cards for WW1 plus balloon busting?
WW1 we will start off with a dogfight with a rolling entry for any new players.
Just before lunch or at a convenient break we will do a chippy raid.
After lunch we can do a Balloon raid people want, but we need some balloons , afraid I don't have room to bring.
Chris can we use your green sheets again?
I can do balloons with no trouble Chris.
Rob.

WW2 awesome - does that mean my ban has been lifted or is that the outcome of current courts martial proceedings
Captain Hedeby.
As the Courts Martial has totally exonerated you of any misconduct, and furthermore, as I will be responsible for any WW2 action at Derby, I can see no reason to prevent you from flying any form of aircraft in which you feel competent.

Have a great weekend chaps !
Sapiens qui vigilat... "He is wise who watches"
Have a great time everyone! I wish that I could be with you.
I have no WW2 planes at all alas - might have to see what the nice traders have with them. If there is half a chance of any SoG - I would really be up for trying it
Just happy to be there and will fly whatever... especially if its Bristol shaped
Alarm set for an earlyish departure. See you just after 09:00.
I'll be on Keith Tait's stall tomorrow but will do a tour of the games at some point.
Roll up, roll up! Come and buy some 28mm painted figures (I'll see if he will paint some pilots )
Rich
Because the weather looks pretty vile all day today, I wouldn't be able to nip out to exercise the dog without us both getting soaked (which would make the day less fun for both of us).
Tomorrow looks much better, so I'll reschedule for Sunday.
Have a great day chaps.
Hope you all have a jolly day today, looking forward to seeing the pics. I have an unexpected local pass out for today so I'll be at the Blast-tastic SF wargaming show in Bristol this morning.
And once again I shan't be there.
Jealous jealous jealous.
Hope you all had great flying yesterday, all the best for todays final sorties.
See you on the Dark Side......
Great day yesterday - WW2 all day which was new for me (what with being mostly barred)... Hmm let's recall the results, 5 kills in total, no losses, and only 5 pts damage taken all day. Fair to say the Italians did not have their shooting trousers on, and My Huuricane seemed to be firing magic bullets. Mind you we had Marian on our side for the latter stages of the first confrontation thus we couldn't lose - but no one expected 4-0 with hardly any damage to any of the RAF planes at all.
Great day - thanks Rob for running them so well. Loved the Stringbag attack (and NO I didn't accidentally crash into the Italian battleships, mind you I was flying fighter cover, obviously my rehabilitation hasn't gone so far as to trust me with a torpedo plane yet)
So Squadron Leader Skafloc - I upheld the honour of the North !!
Well, that was fun.
Good to see you in the cockpit old chap.
I will post the proof of your actions as soon as I get the chance.
Now you are back in Yorkshire, after the heat of Malta, I bet it is getting a bit cold up there if all you have is the Tropical kit you were wearing when flying with us.
Rob.

Had a great day on Saturday! Shame I had no clearance for Sunday.
Got nailed in the first sortie twice! Failed to defend 3 balloons against a heavy SE5a onslaught, but flew Manfred & Lothar to safety. Rene Fonk flew valiantly in the last outing, but got nailed with collision damage of 10!
Had a brilliant time in the process. Thanks chaps!
great time had, pity we had other arrangements planned or would have stayed longer.
thanks for putting on a great game
Well that's another one over for this year.
We came a creditable "Third" for the Participation games, which was good and only one down from last year.
Saturday was quite busy all day after 11 am, Sunday was non existent for WW2 and low for WW1, but the whole show was quiet for Sunday.
Showed off a bit of sails on Sunday so hope FO Kyte and Brambo found it of use.
I wil be putting in for medals shortly for all who took part and pics will be posted within the next few days.
I for one enjoyed and hope the rest did, thanks to all who turned up on both days.
Had a great day on Saturday, and wished I could have made Sunday too, but it was not possible. I enjoyed the day imensly even though I let the side down by being the only German to be shot down, followed by almost taking out a Frenchman with a Biff. Thanks to everyone for organising such a great event and for all the help freely given. Once again i learned a great deal and plan to put it to good use in my own games.......When is the next one?
I did swing by the table at Derby and I did say hello to a few people, if only to prove that I really exist!
Unfortunately I could not stay long as I had fallen foul of the 'no dogs on site' rule at Derby and my dog was back outside the entrance to the car park and I had to walk in. I could not leave him there very long.
Barry
I completely missed that.
I took my [enormous] dog with me. I unloaded her in sight of the car park marshal. I walked her up to the conference centre and back to the van to stretch her legs and no-one said anything.
Now I know to look for it, I did find it on the Donnington Park website, but it's not on the event website anywhere.
Where did you have to park?
Saturday I was on the WW2 table with Rob and Chris, we had a great time. The Italians were confident, a quick sortie, destroy the enemy and home for wine and pasta. It was going so well, then a dot appeared on the horizon, ah ha, more reinforcements, it got larger, was it a bird? Was it a train?, was it a Ship? No it was 'Marion the Merciless' flying a spitfire !!!!! It was a good job our fishing boats were able to pick us up and take us home for cold pasta and empty wine bottles. Thanks Tim, she was meant to be playing WW1.
Sunday I was on the WW1 table with Tim, it was a very quiet day but we managed to get the game going. Fox joined us and managed to collide with all sides taking part, getting two kills out of the collisions.
Sunday afternoon Chris must have felt sorry for me as I had chained myself to the harbour and just looked at the Sails of Glory, somebody cut the chain and I fell in, Tim refused to save me!!!! So Chris ended up setting up a SOG game and showing me the error of my ways.
Overall a great weekend, good games and more inportantly great company.
Thanks guys for a pleasant half hour. I did enjoy sinking an Italian battleship and shooting Italian fighters with a Swordfish torpedo bomber.
Did anyone take any photographs, please?
Me wanna see photo's.......
See you on the Dark Side......
After an argument with site security - eventually settled by a very helpful manager - the compromise was that I had to park in a bay in the entrance but the manager drove me from there to the venue. Trouble is that I could not get a lift back to the entrance and I am disabled. The walk back was very uncomfortable as I was going back loaded. The event and people was good, the schlep back to the main gate was less so!
Attack on the Italian Fleet off the coast of Sicily.
Game one to eliminate Italian Fighter cover.
The Team assembles.
Firs encounter with the Italian Macchi Fighter cover.
Deadly M prepares for combat.
Dakkka dakka dakka.
Two at one blow. Cpt.Hedeby and Marion strike.
And another goes down.
Am I the last Italian standing. It seems so.
Now for the attack on the Fleet.
Bring on the Stringbags.
Here we go then chaps Tally ho!
On fire, and not a sign of Kyte.
Torps away Captain.
Another Macchi down. It's that Hedeby again.
Hedeby witnesses the first Torpedo strike
the Victorio Veneto from his Martlet.
More Stringbags close in for the kill.
Another hit, and that does the trick.
Unfortunately one of our boys goes down but still
A resounding victory for the Allies.
Rob.

Great photos Rob! Nice to see an account of the WW2 table shenannigans
The Channel Dash.
Will the German Battle-cruisers outrun the intrepid pilots of the FAA in their Swordfish Torpedo bombers?
In the early hours of the morning, the Schornhorst,Gneisenau, and Prinz Eugen, together with a destroyer escort, slip out of Brest under cover of the mist.
They attempt to slip through the Straits of Dover and into the North Sea.
Before long their escort of Me 109s turn back.
Soon after this they are spotted by a patrolling Fulmer.
He radios the position of the ships to HQ.
A Squadron of Swordfish are summoned to the scene and launch a torpedo attack.
The first torpedo misses and the Swordfish is shot down.
The next attack goes in and strikes Scharnhorst amidships rendering over 50% damage.
Dodging the AA the next attack is made.
Another Stringbag is lost to Flack.
But eventually Prinz Eugen is hit.
A second strike causes it to blow up.
An attempt on the Gneisenau fails to do any damage.
And a last attempt on Scharnhorst only causes slight further damage.
All torpedoes now launched the remains of the squadron make off.

To conclude here is a picture of the most successful visiting pilot of the show Joshua.

Superb action in the Med and Channel Rob. Capt Hedeby consider yourself un-barred, well done.
See you on the Dark Side......
Thank you for a great game on the Saturday at Derby, Joshua thoroughly enjoyed himself and wants to return next year for a re-match! Also thanks for pointing me towards this website Rob.
I slipped off and purchased the WW2 version after we had finished playing, to add to our WW1, it'll make a good present from Santa. If you can give any pointers towards where to find all the items you use that can't be found on here already I'd be interested.
Finally thanks for putting up the photos you took, although judging by the glare from the flash on the top of my head I think I should have been wearing the flying helmet, not Josh!
