You need to use Carl Brisgamer's Swordfish deck, found here:
    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/sho...l=1#post240852

We really need to bug him to get these 3 slow plane decks into the files. He's got the XS (for slow bombers and PBYs, 290-330kph) the XT ( for slow bombers and transports, 250-290kph) and the unnamed XU deck for even slower planes like the Swordfish. It's fairly maneuverable, though, as befitting the biplanes it's made for. I don't know if the Walrus was as spritely
Note: with all these decks, the plane moves the length of the arrow ONLY. It has to be played with the card under the plane, and the base moved to the front of the card, as described in the thread, or placing the card in front of the base (standard way), and moving thefront of the base to the line at the arrowhead.

I've got to unsubscribe from this thread for the good of my health. [Types Dom, who definitely hasn't spent the last 20 minutes vainly searching for images of the Walrus that the Italians captured at Fuka and reportedly remarked and pressed into service. Oh no....]

This is an approximation of the colour scheme I found for 700 Sqn:

    Joaquim,

You've got to be kidding, right?

Really, see my profile. And I am a amateur Canadian Aviation Historian. I will build a Burgess Dunne, but it will probably be the D.8 or D.10. If Canada would have waited a bit, they could have had a decent plane. Sort-of like the "What if" of the Avro Arrow. What would it look like, and be able to do, if we actually put it into production, instead of cutting the prototypes into scrap.

Sorry! I've been foraging your profile for plane cards and read your bio, but for some reason I passed by the Burgess part.
Will you build it in 1/144?

    Joaquim,
If I build it, it will be 144th scale.

However, I'll have to pry myself away from my computer long enough to build all these planes I have made cards for (WWI planes, anyway). Maneuver decks are next on the list.

Oh, and my latest insane idea: Stop-motion videos of all the maneuver decks in a head-to-head flying contest. The Idea Hamster is on the treadmill, on Red Bull!

Ok, I printed, and as simple rookie, tried to mount this beauty. I instantly noticed that i would need tough to hold the all the plane parts. What that would be?

I can always get away with Gibraltar based aircraft for Malta, and it looks as if Mike has me in hand vis North Africa, so please don't overtax yourself. i don't want you having a breakdown like Dom's.

Have I missed something here? I've not come across these - RAAF roundels and bars yep (eg."Rescue Girl" with the mermaid nose art) but the only Walruses I can think of with stars were the Torch landings ones?

I don't think the Americans ever operated it - British ones got US roundels for the Torch landings, as the Vichy forces were considered more likely to allow apparently American aircraft to operate unhindered - anti-British sentiment was strong following Mers El Kebir. In the Pacific you have plenty of Aussie options though.

Horses for courses I guess - for me even French P-40s are a bit of a stretch, but at least they were actually ordered. AFAIK the US never showed any interest in the Walrus, so it's another leap from there even. Each to their own obviously, but for me there's far more fun in finding unlikely combinations that *did* exist. Except for that Italian Walrus obviously, I'm growing to hate that one....

I have a color scheme with US Stars on it, on the same page as the 700 Sqn Desert Walrus. I was going to throw that into the thread, before I got dragged away from my mainframe. It is in Desert colors, too, not the standard USAAF OD.

There are references in US Sqn documents to Walrus rescues of American crews, but any time the operating squadron is actually mentioned, it turns out to be RAF or RAAF doing the Air-Sea rescue (293 sqn, for example, IIRC?). Catalinas were operated in the Pacific for US Air-Sea Rescue, as far as I can tell.

That one is HMS Cumberland's spotter during operation Torch - I think she was in usual FAA colours rather than desert camo (which on Walruses seems to have been pretty much just a 700 squadron thing) but either way, definitely another British one.

    Rob,
Check out 283 Squadron ASR, Malta. No idea of what colour scheme these would have. Probably faa standard, being that they were overpainting RAF fighters in sea colours.

283 was in North Africa when it had Walruses - only moved to Malta after converting to Warwicks in early '44. 284 squadron started operating Walruses on Malta in July '43, later handing them over to 293. Prior to summer '43 I can't find any dedicated Air Sea Rescue unit for Malta, although navy Walruses were doubtless knocking around more often than not, and I dare say would've taken on the role on an ad hoc basis.
