Default Grey here. In Salem area. Reporting in.

    Grey here.

I am in the Salem, Oregon area (at present) and am a relative noob.

I bought my first copy of 'Wings of War' and a few planes, years ago, but could find no players. Subsequently, the situation has much improved.

But, I didn't think some of my planes had become 'collectable' in just a few years.

    Anyway, I am ready.

Welcome aboard Brian, glad to have you here. I like both WWI and WWII. But I lean towards WWII. Really like the game play and the planes.

I am primarily into WW1, at the present, but will expand into WW2
    eventually.

Welcome to the Drome from Cape Cod. Your headline momentarily had me excited by having a new player in my area. ( I hoped Salem Mass) But reading your post to the end was like geting shot down....

If you have trouble finding players there is always PBEM games to get into and there are some great solo options on the site.

Sorry. I thought the bold OREGON would be enough.

I no longer use the internets for gaming. I want to revisit and promote 'face-to-face' game play.

This is a golden opportunity to promote WW1 interest, as well.

    And thanks for the 'welcomes'.

BTW, anyone know why my access is so limited???

So what 'collectable" planes are you fortunate to own?

    Two reasons Brian.
First your new member status plus there is a Membership level achieved by paying a monthly fee (most reasonable---$5 gives you Gold membership with lots of Benefits). There are lower levels as well. Check out details via the Site Rules & Info section up in News & Announcements.

As for 'collectables', let's just say one day, before I retired and had money, I walked into my local hobby shop, saw the original 'Wings of War' game and the first 2 series plane miniatures, and bought all of them that struck my fancy (and the booster packs that were available). For example, Udet's Fokker DVII. Now I see it has been offered for 10x what I paid. Egads!

I just sat on this stuff, until this spring when I found some fellows that wanted to try the game. As you can guess, now we are scrambling to catch up!

I am a bit miffed that I recently lost out on ebay (trying to get some SE5a's), but I did manage to scoop up a Nieuport 17 and an Albatros DIII without paying a price that was unreasonable.

There is a fairly local gaming group that meets every other month, but I think for me that is too infrequent, but we'll see.

I am patient enough to wait for re-issues, provided I live long enough.

And again, thanks for the welcomes.

Hi Brian... I'll also introduce myself here since I'm also new and in Portland, Oregon, right up the road from Salem. I'm a newbie and have been playing for just a few months. We generally play at Guardian Games in Portland and are working on learning the advanced rules. Hello everyone!

They are still in their original plastic bubbles.

    Let's see...I have...

    Ju-188 E 1
    Fiat BR-20
    LeO 451
    Messerschmitt Me-264
    Lockheed Hudson

    ...so far

    Are these suitable for WG2?

They are all Altaya/IXO brand, except for the Hudson, which I think is "Ajax"?
