Anyone else order bombers from Miniature Market? I had some credit there so that's where I placed my preorder, but I haven't heard a thing from them and they still show as a preorder item on their site. Wish I had just ordered from AA.

Min market just had their black friday sale that would have gone bonkers... Im guessing they will be delayed due to that.

Does anyone know what these bombers weigh unopened in box? Like exact gram amount? It really matters when you are in Oz!

Might be, but they took my money for the bombers long ago, if they are just sitting on them I would be less than pleased.

There has been delays in getting product to many retailers. My LGS can't get em yet, nor can Coolstuffinc or Miniature Market. From what Coolstuff told me, they are expecting them any day now.

I got mine from Keith today. Ging to have to get another Dam Buster's Lanc and the other B17 "a bit o lace" as my father made and painted that one up (Airfix) at least 40 year ago, after Christmas when I have some money. in short vey nice models.

Yeah, but this the "netto" weight. You should always add the wieght of packaging ("tara") to get the brutto amount.

That's the weight of the plane in the box, as asked. You can only estimate the weight of the carrying box and filling, since everyone uses different packing material.

That is very true, Karl. You must have detailed scales

I ordered 3 of each. I probably will end up with 6 of each B-17 someday to recreate "box formation" flying. However, I can do it now by just putting the six of the 2 types together. I am sure there was a time in the war, where Fs and Gs flew at the same time in the same formations.

On the other hand the P-51, B-17, SBD Dauntless, and F4U Corsair are my favorite American planes of the war, I buy (and will buy when the other two hit the market) in big quantities to eventually repaint them or at least add enough new decals to be able to tell them apart.

Evan, the AA site will give you an exact shipping quote for your order before you have to start the checkout procedure. The biggest concern is not really the weight of the minis in their boxes, but how big their boxes are! They are about 8"x8"3.5" I think (not at home to check) and multiples of them really eat up shipping box space. So they end up needing a larger shipping box to fit in. I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure that one of each still came in well under the Priority mail requirement for international shipping. That helps a lot in keeping the shipping costs down.

Ryan---learned my lesson due to this pre order. I ordered from MM due to my credits. The Black Friday orders were to be on hold because of pre orders but those are on the way. I sent an email and they say they haven't received them yet. I was at my LGS today and they had all four for a special order. Many people have their planes so I take this as a lesson learned. Order from here from now on even if you get a discount on the price.
I ask for forgiveness for not ordering from here and supporting Keith.

  17. #317

Sorry to hear that Bob, but you certainly have done your penance.
Apart from one time when their was some problem with the distributors over in the States, I have always got my aircraft from AA before the stockists in the U.K. and the discount given by Keith offsets the overseas postage unless the largest boxes are needed.
Consequently, that is the reason I always get my first consignment from there.

hmmm the B25 Doolittle is 153 grams in box,
Jager can you confirm that it was 185 grams in box?
I would have thought the mini alone would have put it a lot more than 33 grams heavier than the B25's, let alone the extra maps and box size

  21. #321

    Default

Yup, weighed in the box, both of them.

Ah yes that makes sense I had had a suspicion the Heinkel and B25 were part metal. Hadn't looked closely enough.
    Thanks Jager!

As far as I am aware, all the planes are a mix of pewter, plastic, paint, and decals. I think the fuselages are almost always pewter, while details like guns, canopies, and wings are plastic. Maybe some of the wings are pewter as well.....

The He-111 comes in at 163g and the B-25 at 160g, both in the box with all components.

Well the rest of my planes came today so now I have 2 X Memphis Belles/1 Bit O Lace/2 x Lancaster's and 1 Dam buster. Great looking planes. Three weeks but worth the wait.

Great you have them already, Bob. My second B-17, Bit of Lace from AA arrived also today in a perfect shape and I must confess it looks even better than the Belle, in reality.

My Belle arrived just fine (unlike the B25 next to it which arrived with its wing off and a broken machine gun). I love this size comparison. I'm using this picture to inform others how fun this game is ( I need more players by me)

Very cool, I just ordered the the silver B17 and dambuster Lancaster.
Will be interesting to see how well they play.
How many German fighters will be needed to take down the fortress?
50 hitpoints is gonna be tough.

Well a Japanese ki61 and ki84 were no match for 1 b17 in my solo game. They did 30 damage

Imagine what attacking a B-29 was like. Probably one reason why they took to ramming.

A big box just arrived from Keith with I presume my WW2 Cockpits and another Lancaster inside.
Mrs K is buying me these for Christmas, so the box was whisked away until Thursday.

Finally got my bombers! whoo! 1 of each, but Im tempted to get a few more Lancs.

Out of interest, I noticed the B17's have 2x VI tokens printed, and no IV token. Anyone else notice that?

I haven't, but I'm interested in how that works. My father in law is interested in this game, but he lives 2000 miles away, so doesn't see the sense in buying anything. How long do the games usually take?

About the usual length of time ie an hour + but that depends on the game and the number of players. Its as close to a club game as you can get, plenty of banter
