These films always set the scene and give one the extra impetus to do something about getting in on that sort of action.
Bring on the model B17s. say I.

It was amazing what these men did for our freedom. I pray for my country now.

Seems like a good thread for my question
We have two new B-17 (F and G versions). I know well European Theatre, but do not know.almost nothing about operational history of B-17 in Pacific. Which of these two new birds are useable for Pacific missions?
http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_bombers/b17_20.html suggests neither of them can be used -- nothing later than an E-model.
However, as there's no difference in armament and performance between the E and F, the F can be used as an E with no mods.
OK, sounds good. I will add B-17 F to Pacific Theatre.
By the way, ehat type.was after B-17 there? B-29?
Edit: Oh, I forgot B-24. Excellent link, Chris.
both could be used in the proper scenario. early b-17fs were virtually identical to late model es and converted b-17gs (known as b-17hs) were used as air sea rescue (with a wooden lifeboat slung under the bomb bay) late war. conversion was inconsistent with varying armament remaining but usually with chin turret or, less often, ball turret replaced by airborne radar.
