Default Happy 5th Anniversary Wings of Glory Aerodrome!

This month marks the 5th anniversary of the site officially opening. It's hard to believe that the site has been here this long... and yet sometimes it feels like we all just met. There has been some turbulence along the way, but we are still flying high!

Here is a and to each of the pilots here on the 'Drome!

Hurrah for our first 5 years, and here's to the next five
One of the best places on the web to gather and trade information (and beer )
Thanks Herr Oberst for creating this special place, and thanks to my fellow 'Dromers for making it so.

I raise my glass to the creator of this continuous story.
I raise my glass to the friends and partners I found here and that I intend to keep with me for many years to come.
I raise my glass to the immense amount of sharing, trust and comradeship.
I'm richer from knowing you, some just here, some in the flesh.
I raise my glass to this five years of the Aerodrome.
I raise my glass to the next five, together with all of you.

How did I miss the first 2 years of this great site? I think Joaquim said it all. I have met many people in here and quite a few in person. So what can I say but thank you for this.

As a very new member to the site I would like to thank everyone here who has laid the foundations and ground work for such an amazing home for players of the Wings of War/Glory game. I was instantly welcomed in to the fold and unlike many other forums the code and conduct of the members here is without reproach.

Again thank you to all those before me for the great effort you have all put into the Aerodrome.

Many thanks to all that started and nurtured the Drome to what is today. Lots of hard flying hours but the result is a fantastic site that we all thank you for.

    Thank you Keith & Everyone!

I'd like to second (or third) the sentiments, I think we all deserve another round!

I'd also like to take a second to raise a toast to those members no longer with us.

I've only been here two years, but I'll join in the celebration.

I raise my glass in the "forum toast":

Here's to cheating, stealing, fighting, and drinking.
If you cheat, may you cheat death,
If you steal, may you steal a woman's heart.
If you fight, may you fight for a brother,
And if you drink, may you drink with me.

Thanks for all the camaraderie, drinks (thank God it is all digital, or my liver would have been pickled last year), and excellent ideas and conversations.

After something Karl said to me:

    On Friendship
    Kahlil Gibran

Your friend is your needs answered.
He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.
And he is your board and your fireside.
For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."
    And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;
For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.
    When you part from your friend, you grieve not;
For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.
And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.
For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.
If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.
For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?
Seek him always with hours to live.
For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.
And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

    .....

I think that this summarizes what I feel about this home made of bytes.

Congrats Aerodrome on the Birthday. To all who have contributed to make this spot one of the friendliest places on the internet, thank you. Only joining in late April, I have come to see this forum as a great place, where ideas are shared, advice given, history studied, and friends made. My interactions here have been pleasant and fun, silly at times, and just plain enjoyable. In comparison to some other hobby forums I frequent, this forum stands head and shoulders above the rest. I look forward to being here for the 10th Birthday celebration(and beyond). A hearty thank you to our Leader and Founder, all the attributes named above are because of your guiding hand, a microcosm of the gentleman you must be. Pip Pip.....
