I am back (But WWII now)

Evening Chaps,

I am back again as my son is older (6 years old now ) and keen to play with WWII planes. So hunting through my stash of minis I have found 4 planes:

2x IL 2's
1x Stuka Tank hunter
1x Stuka Dive Bomber.

Now my question is how do I get my hands on Flight decks for these planes? Damage cards etc with out buying a huge amount of stuff. I really want to do this on the cheap and stay in the 1/144 scale as that is what I have.

I do intend to get some more Zevezda planes namely a Lagg-3 and Bf109 to ad din as escorts for the bombers.

So I guess I need some advice and ideas.

Alan rather than build them as models check out F-Toys. They are painted and only a few things that have to be put together. They have the Stuka's but not the others you are looking for.

I enjoy glueing and painting so not much of an issue. I guess the main thing I need are bases and the damage cards, manuaver decks.
Where do I get these?

Just got my WGS all sorted and should be here next week. Its the bases I am struggling to find.

I think I found the Stuka bases (on the AA site and the standard fighter bases that could be used for the bf109 and Lagg-3) but its the dam IL 2 bases I can not find and the 2-sweater bases on couldn't find any on the AA section.

It was hard to tell what bases the Litko fit into... I need to do an order soon and prefer to get it all from one site (saves on postage)

Any one care to help me out?

Wold the Il2 be covered by the stuka base? With CCA/A Short and CA/A Long. Plus bombs and rockets options.

I asked that earlier and was told it wouldn't...
Otherwise I merely just order 4 stuka bases and go from there.

Alan I use the Litko WoW Allied Rear Firing bases for my 1/144 planes that have a rear guns--Dauntless/Stuka/Kate/Val. These are F-Toys so should work Zeveda models. You would just need to get a plane card for the plane you are flying.

I am getting the Wings of Glory WW2 Rules and Accessories Pack and just realised it comes with no manuever decks or planes cards where the hell do I get those with out actually buying the official planes.?

There are some card packs from the older Wings of War WWII. You can get these on ebay or some shops that still have them.
I have a few sets that I will scan. If you want to make your own cards contact me.

I found 12-7 games have the bases I need but when the order is $20USD and it costs $16USD to post it makes it dam harder for me to even consider getting back into WGS. And the main reason I don't want to buy the official planes is due to them costing $25NZD per plane and $36+NZD for the larger planes (some are even near the $50NZD price point) also we want to play 1/144 scale and I can get planes for around $7NZD. (So more bang for my buck)

But I now need to find plane cards and manuaver cards for:
Stuka dive bomber
Stuka tank hunter
IL 2
Bf109
Lagg-3
And eventually FW-190

this is frustrating as hell.

Found some custom plane cards for each of the planes I need in the download custom card section.

Since you don't mind painting maybe you should look into Armaments in Minature http://www.armamentsinminiature.com/ AIM are $4-8 for most WW2 planes.
I've seen other's painted here and they look great. I have a couple of Me 109's to tackle soon.

Maybe making your own bases? Nothing says they have to be clear plastic.

Thx Peter but there was no planes listed on there in the 1/144 scale section.

Will keep looking for 1/144 scale planes. My only issue I have now is manauver decks for the listed planes I mentioned in my last post.

That will be a mission to find for sure.

Check out Hobby Link Japan for the F-Toys planes. I have ordered from them and since you are closer might not be that much for shipping. I ordered some 1/144 diecast planes that cost 10 euros each. I bought 5 so 50 euros and shipping was 32 euros. Very nice models but as you say the shipping is steep.

I just ordered the Stuka and 2-sweater bases with altitude dials and gimbal pack so will be doing exactly what you have done.

Been busy ordering my WGS stuff this morning.

Did a second order of bases and gimbals through the Aerodrome
Got 8x planes coming from Pendraken (Revell Micro wings 4x P-39, 4x Bf109's) 8 planes for $36.40NZD
Got 3x maneuver deck boosters coming from Xen.
1x Wings of glory WW2 rules+accessories from my local gaming store
2x wings of glory gaming mats (1x costal, 1x city)
1x Wings of war fire from the sky box

Hoping that should keep us busy for awhile will review what else I need once all that has arrived and we can then hopefully have a game.

Well everything has arrived with the exception of the maneuver decks from Xen which I am hoping will arrive in the next few days.

Got the latest order from the Areodrome this morning. So been busy gluing up the Bf 109's and P-39's.

Still need to get my two Ju88's which may have to wait till pay day for me to order.

I am still undecided on the amount of pegs per plane was thinking of doing 2 for fighters, 3 for bombers.

But the other option would be 3 for the fighters and 4 for the bombers but its hard to say which looks better. Its not to big an issue as we will be using the altitude bases but I guess its down to the "look"

Will post some comparison pics for your apprasial .
