Looks like the wife and I might have 2 or 3 days to spend in Paris at the beginning of Sept. With not a lot of time, what are the top things we should make time to do? Any suggestions on were to stay would also be welcome.

Musee de l'Armee and Musee de l'Air & Aerospace are givens. That's 2 days sorted. Fill the rest of the time with shopping to earn 'good-boy' vouchers allowing you to go to the first 2 mentioned.
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Musee d Armee well worth
Louvre
Arc D'Triumph
Eifel Tower
Napoleon's tomb, magnificant, but you need to book to see this nowadays I believe.
Artist square
We've used this place before; http://www.campanile.com/en/hotels/c...ille-le-marais Decent area with restaurants and grocery stores close by, and only a couple of minutes walk to the Metro to get to:
Musee de l'Armee (with superb fortification models up in the attic) & Napoleon's tomb at Hotel d'Invalides
Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le Bourget
Musee d'Orsay (not as famous as, but probably more enjoyable than, the Louvre)
Sainte-Chapelle (more spectacular than Notre Dame)
Place du Tertre on Montmartre for views over the city
Tour Eiffel
Musee de la Moyen Age
A wander around Le Marais and the Place des Vosges
and if you're prepared to venture beyond the city, the Palais de Versailles is the best of the royal sites; if not, Vincennes is still worth a look.
Galleries Lafayette for some retail brownie points in an upmarket French department store.

See some stuff, but don't forget to sit yourselves down at some outdoor cafe (I like the Tuileries Gardens) and have a drink or two. Preferably in the afternoon. Drink in the view. Seriously. Just. be. there.
Sainte-Chapelle is a hidden gem
Notre Dame Gargoyle Tour
Musee d'Orsay
Great view from the Effiel Tower
You have to stroll the Seine
My favorite places are :
Notre-Dame
Walk along the Seine borders close to ND
La butte Montmartre and "Père Lachaise" Cemetery
Avenue des Champs-Elysée, Arc de triomphe and Tour Eiffel
A walk in Le quartier du marais (lot of great houses and private hotel)
A dinner on a boat on the Seine river
Moulin Rouge at night (not with children ...)
... and many more ...
... and you may visit this place as well : http://www.starplayer.fr/cgi-bin/pro....cgi?langue=fr
Sainte-Chapelle is a hidden gem for sure!
Gallerie Lafayette will defintely, definitely score brownie points!
Keith, are those two or three days on a weekend or during the week? Because some museums are closed on tuesdays...
Also, how many miles do you and your wife intend to cover during your stay here?
Regarding accomodations, there are lots of hotels in the city, with prices ranging from 75 euros to 200 euros a night (say 100 to 250 bucks).
As said before, Musee d'Orsay (not as famous as, but probably more enjoyable than, the Louvre). Look at their collection online and you will see a lot of world famous art you recognize. I like it better than the Louvre, less pushing and pickpockets as well.
Thanks for the all the great ideals everyone. The wife surprised me and asked if we could go to Prague instead I promptly made a doctor's appointment for her... I mean, what sane women turns down a trip to Paris
