Just to confirm where we are on this one:

    When: 10am-4pm Saturday September 6th.

    Where: Gateshead International Stadium.

    What: 2 x Tables booked. WW1 & WW2 participation games.

Who: skafloc, Guzzi, skipper, Sparky, indie55, Iancram, BooBooHamster.

Any more helpers please? We are running two tables and it's Saturday only.

Trying to organise a team game for the WW1 2nd or 3rd game to try out the points system. Unfortunately for this one aircraft will be pre-selected and it will be a random pick as to which team flies what.

Anything you need for any of these games Neil. I haven't got an extensive collection as you but if I can help I will.

  12. #12

    Battle of Britain is sorted.

WW1: Your Lafayette Escadrille would be great. Any Albatross DI, DII, DIII's. And of course the Bomber(s) (Gotha).

Cheers again and sorry for messing you around Neil.

  13. #13

Not a problem Neil, are you ok for gaming mats do you need my printed WW1 gaming mat.

  14. #14

    Default

If you have a coastal mat (BoB game) that would be excellent. Playing on your mat would be fantastic and different, so if that is ok with you then yes.

    To confirm:

    When: 10am-4pm Saturday September 6th.

    Where: Gateshead International Stadium.

What: 2 x Tables booked. WW1 & WW2 participation games. May only run 1 table though WW1 am, WW2 pm.

Who: skafloc, Guzzi, skipper, Sparky, indie55, Iancram. Possibly booboohamster too.

WW1: Will be a rolling game of Nieuports v Albatross', with a balloon and 1-2 2 seaters added for good measure then a leisurely bombing run by the famous Gotha's and AEG's on Geordies Chip Shop.

WW2: Battle of Britain. The gallant few (Spitfires and Hurricanes and a lonely Walrus to fish the downed RAF out of the channel) against the dastardly Germans (Heinkel III, JU88, JU87, ME109's....lots).

    Final piece before the show:

I intend to be at the stadium by 7am to help organiser set up (he's short handed).

At present we are still running 2 tables but may change this to 1 large table once we get there. If 2 it will be a straight WW1/WW2 split, if 1 WW1 am and WW2 pm.

Damnation, missed the RV by 20 minutes. (Must remember not to give son a driving lesson on way to show).

Well we struggled a trifle. Newcastle moved Great North Run weekend! What a clash. It was all the fun stuff on the quayside all day yesterday and the weather was fantastic.

    Back to the show:
A very big thank you to Sparky (Neil), indie55 (Tom) and Iancram (Ian) from C Flight - Northumberland. Who ran the games on table 1 WW1.
Another big thank you to Guzzi for running Battle of Britain game as I played the attacking Luftwaffe.
Not forgetting skipper who spent my money and ate his way through copious amounts of bacon and sausage sarnies before hitting our own tuck box bag!

8 public players over both tables, a fair result from poor attendance at show.

Results, photos and the games to follow.

Neil, conducting the game and explaining to Tom the finer points of Boelkes' Dicta.

Although the game was 2 all the game went to the Entente with a late penalty flamer that no-one could remember who had shot at last.

    Christopher Entente 1 kill
    Ian Central Powers 2 kills
    Tom Entente 1 kill
    Entente?? 1 kill (flamer)

    Entente: 1
    Central Powers: 0

Paul and myself indulged ourselves playing Kanoehe Bay with 10 attacking Japanese (All controlled be myself) and Paul the defending US P36's.

Although we had no takers for this game we did talk to about 15 people interested in both the WW1 and WW2 side of the game.

Yes Tom you may have an impressive beard but it was definitely a bad hair day for being shot down...again.

This game ended with an impressive win for the Central Powers, 2:0.

    Charlotte Central Powers 2 kills.

    Entente: 1
    Central Powers: 1

We join the game after a few moves. The Luftwaffe and Regia Aeronautica are trying to bomb the radar station and the chip shop.

My covering ME109's, ably flown by Jim and his son Oliver do their own thing.
Keith (from the WW1 table) tries to take down the JU88's but is trailing smoke.

The SM79 goes down narrowly missing the chip shop as the JU88 lines up for it's bomb run on the chip shop.

You can't get closer than that. Paul calls a near miss, the chip shop is saved!

meanwhile the ding-dong battle between Christopher and Oliver draws to a close as Oliver wins the day with his second kill.

Axis: lost 3 aircraft. Partial hits on the radar station and chip shop.

    Top Gun: Oliver 2 kills.

RAF: Lost 2 aircraft. Shot down 3. Saved the chip shop and the radar station.

A tactical win for the RAF. (Just)

I didn't manage to get any pics of the 3rd game on the WW1 table and I am awaiting the results.

Although we were short on public players we had a fun day.

That said I would admit that the 2nd table was 'A table too far'. But we live and learn.
