Thread: Some nautical madness

    Default Some nautical madness

Last night Baxter and I got together for our normal Monday night chin-wag and flying session, though recently we have played with his 'Sails of Glory' set. Maybe that's why when we did return to WoG we played a cobbled-together scenario that involved a German Convoy, defended by a couple of Albatrii, being attacked by a couple of RE8's.

Probably not very accurate historically but why let that get in the way of a night of fun

No blow-by-blow AAR, but just a few photos to show the action towards the end of the night:

The bombing run while being harried by AA from the escorts and a closing Albatross. Meanwhile the other RE8 is engaged in a head-to-head.

That's the way to do it Wayne!
You flew those RE 8's just like the Aust.Flying Corps did in real life. Aggressively!

Actually it was Baxter piloting the RE8's and me trying to crank the last knot of airspeed out of my D.II's

Good to see those Topdown minis in the flesh so to speak Wayne.
I always enjoy some good fresh sea air myself.
    Very neat little encounter.
    Thanks for posting.

Just went to the Topside Minis site after stumbling across your report above, Wayne - what neat ships! I'm about to order myself the Falklands/Coronel set - it's a great price and a nice mix of ships. They'll be a lot of fun to use as targets! Thanks for the pictures and the tip on the site.

    All the best,
    Matt

Excellent items at a great price.
I now have all the ships for our Midwat battle to place under the 3D War as Sea models when planes overfly the ships.

The owner of Topside was sending out a freebie ship earlier this year. Got a IJN destroyer. Pretty neat and I could see myself getting a few just for surface actions, but for WGS I like the Axis & Allies ships

I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
