Lightbulb A fun game part 1!

Last weekend i ran a demonstration game at The Military Aviation Museum during the Warbirds Over The Beach Air Show. You could not ask for a better location for a WW2 air game than looking out a window at WW2 Warbirds in flight! I offered several options for the game and a BOB fit the bill. I thank Jonathan Lichtenstein museum events directer for the opportunity to share our game during the air show!

The game was a pick up event with several players coming and going as the day went on.

The first session was a raid on coastal radar sites by 2 Stukas escorted by 2 ME-109`s. A pair Hurricanes responded to the attack.

The 109`s were restricted to only ten turns after their first use of fast speed. This encourages a close escort for bombers, while not handicapping
    fighters.

The game was fast and furious. Damage inflicted on the lead Stuka it brought down immediately after it`s bomb release with no crew survivors. This valiant act was rewarded by 2 damage points on the radar site. The second Stuka was equally successful. More damage was done in strafing the target, than bombing it. Damage to both Hurricanes forced them to withdrawal and the Germans shaking their heads in frustration also headed home!

Conclusion: My bombing skills are second to all. Of the 12 points of damage to the radar site. Four were from bombs the rest from strafing runs!
For the loss of no aircraft though both were shot up and partial damage to one radar site the RAF won the first round.

P.S. The bomb armament crews were offered a free ride to England if their bombs did not work in the next raid!

Sounds like a game that could be dropped into any show if you got one of those days where the games finished early.
    Nice idea Rich.

That was part one. that only took 45 minutes. Wait for part two. My camera acted up and i missed photos for the first part. The best part about gaming there, is the knowledge of the visitors who just watched the game for a minute or two. Or the comments about the game set up, models or bases i was using. You cannot beat just stepping away from the game to snap a shot or two! Bob brought me some new cards that i passed out as well as a flyer for the Aerodrome.

Sounds like a good game, Richard.

This special rule for the Messerschmitts sounds interesting.

I know we can't avoid to play a BoB game with limited fuel for the Bf.109s in the future.

Great job! I'm sure all the folks love playing and watching others play. And the setting is great with the view of all those war-birds.

That limit works pertly well. I have manged make two gun runs and still not need to make a fast move. When fast is the only option , i kick in high speed! I have used the same restrictions on other long range escort, in only one instance did it not work.
