Games 3. Caproni raid
Game 4. Halberstadt CL raid
Game 5. Camels and Albatross DV
Game 6. spad7 against Albatross D2
But as always subject to change depending on circumstances

Yep Chris have been distracted by the Wild West recently but have not abandoned W.o.G.
Another successful weekend completed.
Saturday packed despite the torrential rain, Sunday extremely quiet but enjoyable.
Pics will follow, ?I am away from hme this week, but will post next weekend.

It was an awesome day on Saturday. As well as a host of spectacular games and us promoting the hell out of the game (to the point where the traders at the show sold out of starter sets and many people were spotted with copious purchases of WGF and WGS loveliness) we also had to contend with a lightning storm that was reminiscent of the Blitz, the hall flooding and a few gallant souls getting drenched to secure the doors and reinstate watertight integrity, the lights going out every few minutes and then the fire alarm system getting frazzed by the lightning and the alarm blaring out for the next hour.
All great fun, can't wait for next year!

Seriously, I'm grateful for your time and commitment yet again. Just sorry that I could not be with you all this year.

I attended on the Sunday it seemed a fairly quiet day compared with Dave's report for the Saturday.
Nice to meet up with Flying Helmut for the first time.
It was good to be flying again after a bit of a break.
Thanks go to Chris again for organising the weekend and putting a lot of effort into it.

Who are the Albatros pilots in the second and third games? I'm not too proud to admit that I don't recognize either off the top of my head, but those are some spiffy looking planes.
Game 4 - a DH4 raid on the sausage factory in the coastal town. 4 brave British crews (yes, brave, I'm flying for the RAF this time!) up against 5 Albatri!
Early manoeuvres - Mr Manley takes his two DH4s straight at the target, whilst I take a more circuituous route around the flank!
Intercept!

It wasn't quite over then - one of Dave's DH4s was brought down just short of the table edge; 3 planes lost for 1 Albatros, but the mission was a success.
Game 4, and the day to the Tommies, 3:1.

The Edelweiss on a black fuselage is Otto Kissenberth; the stripey fuselage, I'm not sure, possibly Theodor Rumpel, both of Jasta 16b. They are Chris's (Boney 10)'s planes - I expect he'll be along to own up (and take well deserved applause for some cracking repaints!)

Apart from being sold a pup in the first game it looks like a success for the Allies then.

Beautiful paint jobs on the Albatross's seems rather rude to shoot them down. Very nice job, well done sir - very photogenic

Day 2
Much quieter day than Saturday - Chris, Don and myself each took a little time to see a bit of the show, and with fewer punters we played 3 games and finished a bit early (we were still the last to stop playing though; no stamina, these ancient and modern players!)
Game 1 Roland D1s vs Nieuport 17s
2 vs 1 (my 'A' firing N17 just left of picture)
2 vs 1 with boot on other foot! Both Nieuports carrying damage, though
That's 'A' guns for you! My 'A' Nieuport shot down, as a new punter joins the Huns; 3 vs 1 seems a little steep, so I bring in a second 'B' N17
3 vs 2 - Nieuports in a tight spot!
Don has his badly damaged N17 head for home, while I try to avoid the three Huns

Game 2
Albatros DIIIs vs Sopwith Pups.
I flew the black Tudscheck DIII, with a punter as wingman in the other DIII.
The game starts off as two single combats
I damage my opponent in a head-on pass, then Immelman back to get him again!
I shred his plane, and set him on fire
But what's this? As I Immelman back to finish him off, my wingman cuts in, and fires on "my" opponent!
He then closes in for the kill
I did all the hard work, and my rookie wingman gets the glory!
We both gang up on the other Pup
I Immelman again, but guessed wrong!
The rookie beats me to it again!!!!
Game 2 also goes to the Hun!
After lunch, and a wander around (Don shows me to a 28mm WW1 lorry model which I desperately needed for my Dinosaur Hunt game, cheers mate!), we commence Game 3.
Premise - an RAF recon kite flies back and forth between two cloud banks (Artillery spotting, maybe?) so the Huns send three Fokker DVII scouts to "discourage" it! If he hides in a cloud, there should always be a DVII on hand when he emerges, to ensure he doesn't escape!
However, << Admiral Ackbar! >>
(it's a trap!)
Hiding in two of the four clouds is a pair of Sopwith Snipes! Each Snipe pilot writes down which cloud he is in (1-4) and chooses his three cards, but doesn't emerge until triggered by the DH4 being fired upon by any (or all!) of the DVIIs.
Game On!!!

I cut off the DH4's route to the cloud bank

THE TRAP IS SPRUNG! One Snipe is ahead, the other behind!
Frantic manoeuvres ensue - the Snipe behind me is JUST out of range, and at top speed I hope to keep him there!

I shred a Snipe! This leads to a comment from the RAF side of the table:- "this ambush isn't going very well, is it?" Why, oh why did someone have to say that....?

the rookie goes down - now the Huns are in trouble!
I chase down a Snipe, and set him smoking......
Chris is shot down! Now the Hun (singular) is REALLY in trouble!
Outnumbered 3-to-1, I now receive a pilot wound, AND my guns jam!
I play a stall, to try to throw my enemies' aim
banking around, I'm thinking of finding a way out of here, when the DH4 hits me for 2 short-range 'B' damage cards:- Smoke and Fire!
Wounded, with jammed guns, on fire, trailing smoke, only 4 damage points left and outnumbered 3-to1, it's time to try to get out of here!!!!! I start my escape by almost colliding with the DH4! At least he's too close to shoot at me!
Swinging back the other way, we almost collide again!
First Fire Damage card - A ZERO!!! I happily show it to my opponentsthey are not impressed!
I alternate left- and right-turns, always heading towards my base line. The Snipes are out of gun range, and I'm as fast as they are..............
My second Fire Damage card - A 1! I show this to my opponents (only three damage points left - it will all be settled on the last card, if they don't catch up to me.
One of the Snipes plays a stall - ENGINE DAMAGE! He's out of the race! I play three sideslips, and stop just short of the map edge. The remaining Snipe concedes that he can't catch me.
My final Fire Damage card - A 1 !!!!!
I escape, and return to base safely in what's left of my plane,
Good old Steffi, I knew she wouldn't let me down.
Top row normal damage
Middle row +1
Bottom row Fire damage
What a close call! A thrilling game to finish on - actually more satisfying than shooting down multiple opponents.
I look forward to further opportunities for Steffi to prove her worth.
Very many thanks to Don and Chris for a great day's flying, and to the various newbies who came, saw, and then went off to buy Duel Packs from Staffords. And once again many thanks to Chris for his sterling efforts organising the event.

Wow what an amazing set of photo's... thank you for sharing them. Have to say the quality of pictures recently has been brilliant - just another one of my random thoughts... could we have an annual photo competition? get people to nominate, then have a small panel shortlist and we all vote for a winner? If Doncaster is going to pan out as an annual event we could hold the final there - have the photos printed out and those in attendance could vote for the winner? as I say just a random thought
