Sheffield Triples 2014. A Kyte's eye view.
Well day one at Triples was groundbreaking for me as it was the first time that I had arranged the WWII agenda, and the first time that I had GM'd a whole day for WWII.
With a few viz aids to hand, and Neil's programme from the last show I set out to cover the Bob in a day. We started with two games putting up a Spitfire cordon along the coast, whilst the wily Hun, abetted by tours truly, tried to destroy the RAF fighter command, so that their bombers could break through in the afternoon and bomb our chip shops. To up the anti this time the three decoys were actually AA batteries which if bombed would deliver an automatic D damage, and after the Chippy were discovered, if overflown, a C damage.
Well enough banter gentle reader. Let us see what actually happened.
Waiting for the order to scramble.
An intrepid solo scout is spotted on the radar and Spitfires are scrambled to intercept.
Here he comes orange leader.
Oh! He's on fire already. Can you guess who it is yet.
Mutual destruction ensured.

Orange leader to base. First wave repulsed, am returning to base to refuel.
Meantime in WWI things were getting quite exciting.
In the background Chris delivers a lecture on the Zeppelin, whilst Hedeby pays strict attention.

11.15 Wave two attack.
A very opportune cloud when you have a 109 on your tail.
Now how do I get out of that one?
No problems, just attack full on.
Well maybe not then.
What's the matter. Don't you German chappies like me or something.
Good grief Blue Leader, where did that flaming Me come from?
I don't know Black two, but he's a persistent blighter.
Now he's smoking as well, but we have seen off the second wave.
13.25 hrs. Enemy bombers reported on Radar. Scramble to intercept.
Here they come chaps. Good hunting.
They are closing with the coast just north of Warmington on sea.
Flight Commander Hedeby intercept.
That's right get on the bomber's tail and stick to it.
Stay on his tail.
Yes right on his tail.
Smoking! Never mind keep on his tail.
I told you not to keep so close to his tail.
Oh no! Not another one down.
Now he's trying to bomb the chip shop.
It's all up to you Flight leader, You are the only Spit left
A near miss! Looks like only a chip pan fire to me.
Don't worry, I may be smoking but I'm on there case.
The second bomber missed, and they are making a run for home.
Get on their tails again Flight Leader.
Oh well done one is down.
I do hope an E boat turns up soon Fritz, my dingy has a leak.
A victory for the chip shop.
