It's always great to see members of the site meeting up! It makes me realize how far this site has come in such a short time.

We actually bumped into a chap and his lady who had just flown into Rome for a night on the town, and were going back the next day!

Let me say, it was a memorable event know Rob and his lady. The least I could do was accept them with all the honors of the case and help them not only to visit the many beauties of Rome but also places associated with our common interest.

The meeting with Andrea on the first day it was a nice opportunity to talk to many arguments in front of a glass of good Italian wine. Andrea is a very special person and he wanted to meet Rob in person too.

The visit to the tomb of the unknown soldier was a tribute to those who lost their lives during WWI whose names are not even known and whose bodies have not even had proper burial.

The visit to the Air Force Museum with its rich collection of planes from its origins to modern times was an opportunity to see many of the miniatures with which we used to play in 1:1 scale. I do not think of making a mistake by saying that it is one of the finest collections of aircraft in the world, in a scenario as special as the lake of Bracciano

I hope that Rob and Eileen have good memories of this experience. Personally it was an honor to shake hands with the UK Wing commander (and symbolically of all wingmen) but specially embrace a friend.

In answer to Attilio's post, we were treated to the very best of hospitality by him on our visit to Rome, and both Eileen and I decided that the only way in which it could have been better was having more time there.
Thank you Attilio for looking after us so well.

Funny you should say that Dave. Must be your policeman's intuition still working. I believe I was actually saying something like, "How the heck am I going to fit that into my hand baggage."

Having seen the title and read your comments Attilio, Mrs Kyte said she would not like to see us trying to drive down the Spanish Steps, in a Mini or Citroen Picasso, nor through the sewers.
