Default Fighter and bomber squadron groups

    Hi!

Im currently looking to play out the battle of Britain, well at least when it comes to singel groups. The questions are,
How may planes did a Luftwaffe and RAF fighter group contain? Also when escorting bombers how many planes in a singel group.
    Same question applies for bombergroup

My idea is the have enough aircrafts to play a scenario were a german bomber group with escorts are attacking a Bittish city and coming under attack by an RAF group and vice versa with a brittish bombergroup with escort comes under attack by a german fighter group.

Any help is most appriciated because Im planing on making a big order from aerodome =)

    PR,

Unless you have very deep pockets and/or a whole lot of friends I don't think you mean 'groups'. As an example, an RAF fighter sqn consists of 12 aircraft, which together with 3-4 other sqns makes up a Wing (60ish aircraft), which together with another 3-6 wings make up a Group (some 200-300 aircraft).

RAF fighters fought in sections of 3 aircraft, with 2 sections making up a flight, and 2 flights making up a squadron. Luftwaffe fighters fought in a rotte of 2 aircraft, with 2 rotte making up a schwarm, and 2-3 schwarm making up a staffel. So even at the 'sqn' level, you're looking at 12 aircraft, in 4 sections of 3 for the RAF, or 3 schwarm of 4 (which can be further tactically sub-divided into 6 rotte of 2) for the Luftwaffe. If you want to cross the Channel, the French Armee de l'Air operated in 3 aircraft sections (patrouilles) too, although did occasionally also use the 2 aircraft patrouille legere (this latter formation is how I employ my D520s).

Bombers on both sides operated in sections of 3 aircraft; just keep multiplying by 3 for larger formations.

    Well said BdeB.
Keep it simple, for the German's groups of two to four and the British groups of three to six. Then all the bombers in groups of three. So I usually have the bombers as in a set flight plan unless someone wants to really fly them. Each player will control a section of, 2 planes for the Germans and 3 planes for the British. If you have more players each can control 1 to 2 planes each.
