    Default Salute 2014

Just to say it was great to meet up with the folks at Salute today. Bombing the chippy made it all so worth while, especially when the last surviving bomber then proceeded to crash into said chippy having suffered so much damage. Absolute classic. Great to see the youngsters also getting involved and enjoying it so much,(and doing so much better than the rest of us).

The most enjoyable Salute I have been to , just down to the people. Never met you guys before, but thanks for the welcome, and
    inclusion, no questions asked.

Glad the game went well, esp. with youngsters involved
Pardon the question, but not being full conversant with Anglo-Slang, what kind of chippy was it?

It's a Brit term for Fish and Chip shop Karl.

Karl was confused because in American slang a chippy could refer to "a promiscuous young woman, esp. a prostitute."

In which case 'Bombing the chippy made it all so worthwhile' gains a whole new meaning!

Not for my generation, thank you
I was thinking some kind of naval repair shop, but I thought that term was from the 19th cen.

Ok that's an odd kind of target for bombing (NOW)

It is. When I was teaching the rest of the staff always referred to we Metalwork and Woodwork teachers respectively* as Big hammer men and Chippies.

There is a comedian called Stan Bordman (spelling may be incorrect) from Liverpool and part of his act was a line "I don't like the Germans me, they bombed our chip shop during the war!" Hence the 'Bomb the Chip Shop' mission.
