Battle of Britain Scenario 2: Operation Dynamo - “That inferno on May 23 was Boulogne”
May 1940 – The British army retreats over the Channel hard pressed by the German Panzerkorps.
For what reason ever the German advance stops and only the Luftwaffe continues to bomb the beaches and evacuation zone.
A pair of Stukas, guarded by a Rotte of Bf.109, heads for Dünkirchen to attack the ships there.
Two Allied Hawker Hurricanes are on patrol over the harbor.
An AA battery completes the air defence of the city.
The Messerschmitts go for the enemy fighters.
First encounter – first damages.
The AA fire misses the leading Messerschmitt of Major Neumann.
Neumann turns around, because the Hurricanes go straight for the Stukas.
The attack was successful. The Allied plane’s fire versus the Major Schneider’s Stuka isn’t well placed.
Leutnant Kreil’s Stuka is attacked by the second Hurricane…
His gunner gets the chance for a revenge. A few hits from the rear MG finishes of the attacker.
The Royal Navy destroyer joins in the AA fire.
The dive bombers close in for their targets while the Messerschmitts care for the remaining Hurricane.
Like the mission before, Leutnant Dieke gets the kill.
Major Schneider targets the destroyer. Leutnant Kreil attacks the freighter.
The AA battery tries barrage fire, but causes only minor damage on the leading Stuka.
No chance to stop the Stukas during the dive bombing maneuver. Both ships are fully hit.
The Stukas peels off…
…and head for their escort and the home airfield.
