It depends... if the intent was to remain on the table, you have several options.
- If only barely off the playing surface, you could continue to plot cards and have the AI kite re-enter.
- The Solo Charts will, from time to time, generate "odd/peculiar" results. It's always the prerogative of the player to re-roll, or alter the move, so that the move makes sense... in other words, putting the Intelligence in AI (credit to Dave/Flash for this).
- A timely reversal or switching the direction of a turn may work.
I typically choose #2, but have resorted to the first option as well.
I let it make an immelman to return, but altering the result to one that makes sense seems also ok to me....
The goal, really, is to have a good time. I prefer my AI tough... so i am comfortable altering their play so as to make life difficult for myself.
Where are the rules for solo play?
Here you can find them

Do not hesitate to PM we if help is needed
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
I have two questions to the solo variant:
1) how to determine, which speed will be used for AI plane?
2) game start
"At game start, all solo run aircraft use the following Manoeuvre cards until they come within 30” of an enemy aircraft, or 12” of a table edge they are about to leave (unless they are in the first 2 turns of the
game) "
what are the numbers 30” and 12”? Some multiples of the ruler's length?
every aircraft has a manoeuvre deck assigned to it - if you are uncertain of what the deck should be most WW1 aircraft & their decks are listed here in the stats files
They are British measurements Cartas: 30 inches(30") and 12 inches (12") = 75cm & 30 cm
All the solo rules are on charts here in the file system along with expanded/improved versions.

1) You use the arrow that is more visible, the black one.
2) I don't think that this has anything to do with the game ruler.
It's just an advice how long the AI controlled plane plays a (fast) straight maneuver.
At game start, all solo run aircraft use the following Manoeuvre cards until they come within 30” of an enemy aircraft, or 12” of a table edge they are about to leave (unless they are in the first 2 turns of the game)
Do you plan to join us for SummerCon 2014 in Prague?

Voilŕ le soleil d'Austerlitz!
Thank you
ad1) Ok, how easy
ad2) So I have to create another ruler for solo game...
ad SummerCon) I have never heard about it. Now I have googled it and found out, that the date clashes with my another event It's a pity, because it would be definitely great (even for a rookie as I am).
2) Why you need a controler for this rule?
You don't need this rule as long as you have a gaming area of two Ares Games play mats.
Just place your AI-controled planes heading towards your planes and use the charts, templates and dice to determine the next movement.

Ok, have to try it... Thanks!
