    Default Reporting for Duty

    Good day gentlemen!
I'm currently a North Texas gamer. I like this site and thought I might as well sign up. I've been playing WoG for a few months and have about 25 planes... Still making mistakes, but I'm no longer a total nube. I've got a great gaming buddy for WoG so life is good! We are putting together a campaign and there are a lot of interested fellow gamers, we have a lot to draw on. I also have a brother in Washington State that is now getting into WoG as well... I'll be traveling to see him, hit "Lock and Load" and of course fight for the skies with him and his friends in June. He also wants my campaign rules for the Northwest Historical Gaming Society so he can put on an event there, so I do have to test test test.
I built my own avatar using one I found here but am not currently a subscriber. I'm using it to paint my own miniature, a Fokker Dr.1... It's what I do. I'm also surfing your site quite a bit looking for nuggets of information to make me a better player and tweaking my campaign rules. So far, it's been a great experience.
    Nice meeting you all, Cheers!

Greetings from Cape Cod. I was down to Texas a couple years ago and saw a Rangers Red Sox game. Folks were very friendly.... maybe because it was 9 to 1 Rangers!

G'day Wayne & welcome to the 'drome on behalf of the Pilots who fly in N.S.W. down in Australia.
There are quite a few Texans here on the Forum so you will feel right at home.

Incidently a Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson fan here.

Look forward to hearing of some of your games. Perhaps an AAR. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink!

Ya'll have been great... Thanks again... changing my name to "das Phantom" from COL Ret. Just fits the persona of the German pilot I'll be flying... Hope I don't confuse too many... Cheers! "das Phantom" aka Wayne

On behalf of the rest of the pilots based here in dear old Blighty, welcome to the Drome Wayne.
You should have no problem finding nuggets in this Gold Mine of information and expertise.
You might even find the odd beer in the Officers' Mess.

I'll be at Lock and Load in Seattle for the first and second week in June... so I'm hoping it will be in the second half of the month... itching to go! Thanks!

You know it! I just sent a request to the table top organizer... said my group would run a Wings of Glory two day event at Texicon. Now lets see what he has to say. Really appreciate you waking me up on Texicon Blake! I had totally forgotten about it.

Very cool Wayne. If your group runs a fly-in then I will just fly in yours which would be great since most of the time I am teaching the game and not getting to get shot down

Hey Blake, I did... actually the owner contacted me back. He informed me he preferred for events to be coordinated 6 months in advance and he wanted to know how I was going to promote the event, and how many people could I guarantee. Why did I want to do this? Also, he doesn't provide anything but tables and chairs. I could bring one assistant.

I talked his letter over with my 10 man gaming group and they all agreed, just stay where we are playing in Plano... If we had to bust tail promoting an event for him (gas and time), be there a full two days, have my "guaranteed" pilots pay to get in, and provide our own prizes... yeah, staying where we are and passing on Texicon was a bit of a "no brainer". I told him from the outset that I was not a game store, nor was I connected with "Aeres" the company. He couldn't understand that I simply enjoy the game and wanted to promote it for that reason alone.

It was worth contacting him. I now know Texicon is privately owned and operated event. That is it's primary goal. It is not there to promote table top gaming as it's primary goal. It's just a means of the owner making a profit. None of the game stores in the North Texas area are attending. Too bad. I know gamers are passionate about their games. Another bubble burst, but we will continue to promote WoG.

Dang it sorry to hear that. How about MillenniumCon in November down in Round Rock Texas. Now the gamers would still have to pay to get into the Con. It would be posted on their website. I ran an WGF event there last year and had 8 players sign up, two of which had played before. So it should be well attended, I would help spread the word also!!

I think I might attend Round Rock either way. They have a pretty solid gaming group down there, and they promote TT gaming because they love it. I don't mind paying, because there are operating costs, and would love to meet the "Lone Star Historical Miniatures" gaming group.

8-10 November are their dates. Here is their web site... http://millenniumcon.org/ The site is a bit confusing with August and September posted. But there is a day by day calender with only a "WoG Demo" is available for November. I wanted to see a tournament there... but again, none of their contacts buttons work on this site... may have to hit the group site. I would bet that the entire weekend is locked, unless there is space they haven't taken up.

Wayne, that WoG Demo is mine, you can have the space and time slot if you would like to run the event? It is mainly for getting the game out in front of people to play and make them converts

The only tournaments that are confirmed are DBA 2.2+ and the HOTT, I know because I am running them

Looking forward to meeting you Wayne. And bring your friends, it makes the drive all the more fun retellinng the games you played in that weekend. The LSHM is a good bunch of guys. Their main goal,is to spread miniatures gaming both in the historical and fantasy settings.

Until November,,keep the sun at your back
