    Default Sink the Bismarck

    Meanwhile, somewhere in the Atlantic.

This little game was played by myself and Stormkahn last Thursday evening.
Having no Catalina, we started the game with the sighting of the Bismarck by a flight of Swordfish.(Well if you have 'em why not flaunt 'em.)

Split into two groups the Swordfish started their run, under fire from the Bismarck's secondary armament.

Bismarck uses its rangefinder to range in on the aircraft.

It misses again just as the Swordfish launches a torpedo.

The bad news is no extra damage from A Flight except flooding which is brought under control eventually.

As the Bismarck turns to Starboard, the first wave of Swordfish turn away and the second wave launch their torps, turning the opposite way to split the warships fire.

    A very nice AAR, Rob.

Those ship miniatures look awesome. Same for the Swordfish torpedo bombers.

You really enrich the WGS community.

Nice to see the "stringbags" in Action & being effective.
Did you use Neil's Torpedo rules or your own rules?

All the charts and aids you see there are Neils. They work really well without taking the emphasis away from the air combat, although in this instance there were no enemy aircraft to concern our chaps. The Bismarck could not even launch it's spotter aircraft because the Launch ramp had been damaged earlier.

I think Stormkahn enjoyed himself, as I did helped along by the beer.

As Sven wrote, this kind of play enriches the game options with new climatic settings. What I also adore are the Swordfish colours, which I find really historically accurate. What is the scale of Bismarck, Rob?

    Beautiful!
I was thinking along the same lines. But my Swordfish are still with a coat of black... waiting...

The Bismarck came from the Airfix set "Sink the Bismarck" at 1:1200.
7 ships for under £20 I just could not refuse.

Very nice AAR with great effects. Those ships provide a great visual for the gaming table.
Might have to hit my local model store for a set.
Pity that's the only 1:1200 scale they make.

    Very good thanks Dave.
It is always better to have a game with friends, rather than use the AIs, even with the great rules for them you don't get much conversation, and they only get a drink if I spill mine on the table.
