Very impressive Rob
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
I suppose you feel safer flying these because they've got two wings. Nice looking bunch, or rather squadron...
..wouldn't just one have done the job though?
Happy hunting!
Awesome! Are those 1/200 scale?
There was an episode of the old history channel's Dogfights!, called sink the Bismark. I think it was the plane that scored the hit on the rudder, they had a little interview segment with one of the crew, and his last name was Moffett (?). Can't recall the exact spelling, but my last name is Moffitt. I always imagine that that crewman (pilot?) was a relative of mine and I always root like hell (even though I already know the story) for those ole' Stringbags as they make their attack runs.
Great models!
Very nice, Rob.
The italian fleet had better beware, now: their anchorages are no longer safe!
Eric
Absolutely great looking squadron, Rob. Could you please write more on how you made them and where did you find them?

A nice school of Swordfish, Rob. Good hunting with them.

Here you go Andy.
My request to our own in house designer. I owe him a real G&T for this.

Beautiful stringbags!
What a fantastic flight! Great work Rob.

Thanks chaps.
The real hard work was doing all the ancillary work for a whole half Squadron. Bases plastic inserts, (more on that anon) decks of maneuver cards and aircraft cards, making decals, to name but a few. Painting the planes was a pleasure compared to all that.

SUPER COOL! Love it! You guys *almost* make me want to play WWII.
Rob!
They are beautiful.
Mine are waiting on the line.
I hope I can do a job half as good as yours.
REP's going your way.
EDIT: I'll have to wait to give you more rep....
Oops sorry Dave.
My apologies to Mrs Clipper and the Elves.

Now we have no excuse but to run Taranto at one of the shows.
See you on the Dark Side......
Your Swordfish look very good Rob, now I will have to get at least 3.
Looking good Dave.

My swordfishes are getting ready. Almost an year after they arrived to my hands. :feeling miserable:
Jealousy abounds. Great models. How do you make your decals, printing on decal paper or just thin paper glued on? Looks great either way.
I've always had a soft spot for the Fairey Swordfish, and yours are gorgeous, Rob! What an inspiration to those of us just getting into the game and branching out to paint planes. And I love how they look flying "above" the ships - who's the manufacturer and what's the scale? As my collection of WWI expands, I'd love to get some naval ground targets. I'd love some North Sea stuff for my W.29 and other kites I'm planning on getting, and my interest in the Med and A-H flying boats means I'll need some Italian targets, too...
I've thought of purchasing a copy of Avalon Hill's "Jutland" off ebay (one of my favorite naval games from long ago) and using the counters from it as target, but I really love your 3-D representations.
All the best,
Matt
That particular Carrier is Ark Royal from the Airfix Sink the Bismarck set, in 1:1200 scale Matt.
I still have one Arc Royal left to convert into the Illustrious over Christmas.
They are still around. I got mine from Amazon.

I've just been looking around online at 1/1200 and 1/2400 ships, and there are quite a few out there - I'm sure I'll eventually be able to find/purchase/model plenty of targets for attempted sinking!
Thanks for the advice on scale and maker!
All the best,
Matt
An impressive show of fine swordfish, well done everyone
