I suppose you feel safer flying these because they've got two wings. Nice looking bunch, or rather squadron...
..wouldn't just one have done the job though?

Awesome! Are those 1/200 scale?

There was an episode of the old history channel's Dogfights!, called sink the Bismark. I think it was the plane that scored the hit on the rudder, they had a little interview segment with one of the crew, and his last name was Moffett (?). Can't recall the exact spelling, but my last name is Moffitt. I always imagine that that crewman (pilot?) was a relative of mine and I always root like hell (even though I already know the story) for those ole' Stringbags as they make their attack runs.

Strange to say I have a model of Bismark, also battleships Scharnhorst ,Gneisenau and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, so watch out for the dash up the Channel.

Thanks chaps.
The real hard work was doing all the ancillary work for a whole half Squadron. Bases plastic inserts, (more on that anon) decks of maneuver cards and aircraft cards, making decals, to name but a few. Painting the planes was a pleasure compared to all that.

I've always had a soft spot for the Fairey Swordfish, and yours are gorgeous, Rob! What an inspiration to those of us just getting into the game and branching out to paint planes. And I love how they look flying "above" the ships - who's the manufacturer and what's the scale? As my collection of WWI expands, I'd love to get some naval ground targets. I'd love some North Sea stuff for my W.29 and other kites I'm planning on getting, and my interest in the Med and A-H flying boats means I'll need some Italian targets, too...

I've thought of purchasing a copy of Avalon Hill's "Jutland" off ebay (one of my favorite naval games from long ago) and using the counters from it as target, but I really love your 3-D representations.

That particular Carrier is Ark Royal from the Airfix Sink the Bismarck set, in 1:1200 scale Matt.
I still have one Arc Royal left to convert into the Illustrious over Christmas.
They are still around. I got mine from Amazon.

I've just been looking around online at 1/1200 and 1/2400 ships, and there are quite a few out there - I'm sure I'll eventually be able to find/purchase/model plenty of targets for attempted sinking!
