France - Mid 1940
Two Messerschmitt Bf.110 Zerstörer were going for a French airfield to destroy as many planes on the ground as possible.
Rottenführer was Hauptmann Richard von der Wüst, a Luftwaffe ace in his black plane. His wingman Leutnant Dieter Rusche was a rookie fresh from the flight school. His orders were to strafe and bomb the planes while von der Wüst would care for enemy planes.
The French target airfiled was guarded by a single enemy fighter.
The enemy fighter, a French Dewoitine D.520 headed directly for the two incoming Messerschmitts.
Th French plane passed so quickly that von der Wüst had no chance to fire at it.
Rusche's plane, catched a long burst from the Dewoitine'S MGs.
The black Messerschmitt turned around with an Immelman maneuver.
The first AA shells exploded in the air. Rusche released his bombload and strafed the parked planes with fire from his cannon armament.
The Messerschmitts had a long turning radius...
Rusche made a second strafing run.
Now the French missed to hit the enemy and Rusche started the way home.
The AA battery fired again, but missed.
Now von der Wüst strafed the airfiled...
...turned around and silenced the AA battery.
The Dewoitine D.520 fired at the Messerschmitt, scored a few hits but get fire in return with perfect aim.
The planes passed each other again over the airfield.
Von der Wüst made a sharp Immelmann turn again, destroyed the last plane on the ground...
...and shot down the turning French plane in front of him.
The Dewoitine tumbled to the ground.
Abschuss!
