Thread: Any tips on pilot figures for minis?

Question Any tips on pilot figures for minis?

Does anyone put pilot figures into their WW1 WoW miniatures (or any open cockpit WW2 minis come to that)? I’ve just ordered some N Gauge railway figures (not very expensive so worth a punt) in the hope that I can re paint and adapt a few of them for pilots in my newly arrived models. I believe the scale is 1:148 as opposed to 1:144 but I’m hoping it’ll be close enough. I’m also kind of hoping I’m not the only person out here sad enough to be worrying about such things ... ah, but what the hell? It’s just got to be done.

There are some 1/144 pilot options out there, do a search as they have come up a few times with links.

    Tom!
When building a batch of HE-111`s took a N Scale seated figure and put it in the pilot seat. I also added crew to a JU-88 from N Scale figures. From the photos you can see they are not yet painted. In the last one you can see the pilot in the center left hand plane! Yes that is a woman pilot!!

My figures have arrived. Pretty sure that it's not going to work out like I'd hoped.

As you can see from the photos i cut the the JU-88`s crew in in half. The He-111 figure is also modified to fit the tight space! You might have to modify yours also. Also search another link that goes back two months ago on this subject. I have shots of my Revieresco I-16`s there!

The Peter Pig figures are just head and torso ideal for a confined space like a Fokker DR1 cockpit.
The Reverisco are complete figures if you have the room to fit them in.
I think on balance the Reverisco ones are a little bit better.

The I-16 pilots are just heads and shoulders also!
