Here we go again, last year's class was a success and we are doing it again!
But this time, I am running classes on two campuses.
June 2-6 at St Mary's Hall
June 23-27 at Alamo Heights
I will take better pictures this time

You have my best wishes for successful outcomes, Blake.
Awesome, let me know if you need anything! The elves have been stocking up for just such an occasion . . .
Best wishes, Blake.
We should resume the discussion on grants.
Way to go Blake!
Good Luck.
Nice to hear that you are expanding your horizons this year.
Just wait until Wings is incorporated into the National curriculum Blake!
You could end up as National adviser.

Well done on another go 'round! Any returning pilots, or will this be a completely new group of recruits?
I am about to make a WoG show to my daughter's primary school class this coming spring as well Good luck, Blake!
"We do not stop playing when we get old, but we get old when we stop playing."
Keep us posted. Last year was good to hear and see what you did for the game and getting kids involved.
Just out of curiosity is the post still up from last year? I would be interested in seeing how it went. I have thought of getting some WoG games going in my boys small group.
Best wishes, Blake! I'll be tuning in with interest as I'd like to do something of the kind back East.
Thank you all for your well wishes on the upcoming classes. Night, you should do it for your daughter's school, it will be fun.
Hey Moon, thanks for posting the links to the other threads. Have you had time to work on the other pilot sheets
Yes, there may be two returning. One of those two joined the Drome but has yet to introduce himself
Yes, I am looking forward to the expansion this year. I will also be holding a Fly-In in June at the game convention called, Texicon, up n Grapevine Texas..
Clip, I may tap your elves again this year if they are up for the task
I still don't have the new mats so the pictures will be on the older WoW mats.
Since I'm one two campuses, I have to get more planes, oh drat
The kids pay a tuition to take the classes, and when the class is over, the kids take their plane, their planes deck and firing stick home with them to start their collection. And hopefully, start their journey in this cool hobby we share.
Yes Bob, we do need to continue the grants talk. Check you email from a couple months back.
I will keep y'all posted as this continues.
I know exactly what you mean.
Last years class saw some balloon busting mission and a general Dawn patrol dogfights. The Balloon Busting mission was scary, the AA guns were very devastating. How effective were they in real life?
Blake/Rob, I just now (finally) got a chance to take a look at the AAR and pictures from last year's event. It looks like it was a lot of fun. You incorporated a lot into it to make it more interesting for the young pilots. That was an excellent touch. This is something I am going to have to consider. I already have plans to do this with my 7th Grade Boys Small Group. Doing for a local school sounds like an interesting idea. Hmmmm. Thinking, thinking
Great Job!!!
Update. I have been slammed since January with lacrosse season, started the season with only 7 returning players. Recruiting was insane trying to get enough players for our first game in February and getting them trained a bit. Needless to say we finished with a 3 and 5 record. The kids still have a blast but 11 are seniors and I am going to have to do the same thing next year aarghhhh!
That being said, I have had very little time preparing for this coming summer classes. I am behind the eight ball. I have managed to print out sets of the very cool Pilot sheets for both classes that Moon made, (Moon, any progress with the other nationalities?)
Found my PD&Q sheets. Now I just need to gather all of my WFG stuff to inventory what I have and what I need. My son has taken some packs of planes and a mat to his college a few times to play in the rec room with some friends. He is trying to recruit. How cool is that, and he has done this on his own!
Anyhoo, that's it. Just wanted to let y'all know what has been happening.
More to come at it gets closer to summer.
Cya
Oh, this next Tuesday, a couple of us are flying at a local game store, I will try to remember pictures.

Looks like you have your work cut out there Blake. It reminds me of the years when I was teaching full time running the D.T. Faculty, the pupils War Game club, and getting the school War games show organized each year.
You have my heartfelt sympathy. Don't overdo it dear chap.
Rob.

Very busy stuff.....All is well as long as you are having fun at it. Keep up the good work mate.
As busy as you are it is great to see the work that you do promoting the game.
Thanks Bob. I was just contacted by another school district about bringing my wargaming classes to their summer program next year and possibility to their after school and continuing Ed adult classes!! If we an work out the arrangements and TIME, I will start with WGF for the first classes to offer to test the response. It's exciting to be contacted out of the blue like that in a completely different city to boot. I might have to volunteer my youngest to take over a class.

For consistency, I am going with one each of the Dual Packs for each class. What other planes would y'all suggest to go with the Dual Packs. Remember, each student will take home their plane and deck when the class is over
Perhaps an introduction to 2 seaters, if you have them. Develops the balloon busting, artillery spotting and reconnaissance missions. Always escorted by a scout or two. (Roland/DH4/RE8)
See you on the Dark Side......
Two seaters, hmmm... Sounds like fun. Which two seaters would go well with the Dual Pack planes?
Well fellow pilots, due to a series of unfortunate events creating a huge domino effect, these classes my not take place this year or the Sails of Glory class either. My Paypal account was hacked and that lead to my bank account which lead to several auto payments not getting paid and that let to filing Fraud papers and and creating new back accounts new credit cards, contacting all the companies that were on auto payment and clear them up and and and. . .
What it boils down to is I am mad as hell at the culprits, I hope they burn in hell. Do these people ever get caught?
So I only have enough planes in my personal collection that I am willing to part with to supply 6 kids out of 20 in the two classes. Currently I cannot purchase planes more because my paypal account and bank account are in closed status and I am not the favored son with paypal right now because of those stupid hackers. All of this won't get sorted out before classes start so I may end up canceling this years program
If things change, I will inform you all here. You know you never think it will happen to you but it has happened to me TWICE now in the past ten years!!! I am soo
But there is always next year, and I will continue to show the game to others at the game store and at conventions.
So keep flying brothers and having fun, spread the game and hobby to the you guns

The dastardly scoundrels Blake.
I hope everything sorts itself out financially soon.
I have just had to change my E-bay password because of some scam that went off. Peanuts, compared to what you have had to go through, but it makes you aware of just how vulnerable these systems are. Makes my losing a mere 50 Euros on the Metro in Rome seem like a let off.

I know! Apparently either me or my wife secretly arrived in New York and bought some nice stuff at Bloomingdales. And a paid subscription to an online Spanish speaking Dating Service that one was interesting since neither my wife or I speak Spanish
Just to name a few areas were my money was spent
I would like to speak it, just never got around to learning it, hell, American style English is bad enough for me to use, and I was born here!
Any way, I'll Keep Calm And Move Ahead as they say
Ugh! Disaster! What a PITA! You have my sincerest condolences.
The first class started this week, I have 7 kiddos signed up. I had just enough planes to give to each kiddo. We rolled up our pilots yesterday and today they will go on their first mission. Will post AAR if I can remember to take photos during class
Great to hear you have managed to get things sorted Blake.
Good luck with the class.
Rob.

When you hear a story such as yours makes you think about the Life Lock commercial you see on TV.
Kids are having fun
Our first games turned out to be a Dawn Patrol mission for both sides.
All of the pilots were also learning how to use the cards so had some interesting maneuvers. The American pilot in the SPAD XIII flew off the table on his side without even firing a shot!

Good to see all the Kids having a good time Blake.
I bet all that action makes you sleep well at night!
Thanks for posting the Pics.
Please keep them coming.
Rob.

Fine idea WoG is a perfect for exploring history in fun way. Sure these boys know who was Rickenbacker now Good job, Blake.
I love the SPAD so much... it is simultaneously one of the most deadly planes in the game, while also being inevitable comic relief as it zooms off towards one table edge and then the other at warp speed.
Great job with the kids!!
Yep the SPADs are funny to watch, especially with a new pilot. That first class ended up with eight kids and I had to part with two of my older WoW planes that so far I cannot replace. Hopefully, they will be reprinted and it will all work out.
But the main thing here is that the kids enjoyed the game and we may or may it get some new pilots out of the deal. So I have given them the tools and sent them off on their (hopefully) lifelong passion for the hobby
I will try to get mor pictures posted soon.
Great job Blake. It's nice to see young children playing with something other than a computer, gameboy (I'm old I know) or some other electronic gadget.
See you on the Dark Side......
Well done, Blake!
Thanks Neil and David
