Had an excellent day yesterday, although my poor Westland Wirlwind bit the dust during the "chip shop" raid.
Some great models on display, especially the seaplanes and the Staaken was a sight to behold.
Will post pics next week when I get home.
Cheers to Steve for organising and was good to see so many aerodrome members about either helping or taking part.
I counted a total of 12 members that I was aware of helping out talking to punters or playing with at least 8 WoG Aerodrome shirts on show, nice one chaps

Great day was had by all. Good job the fingers still working. Voice gone, legs gone and money gone.
See you on the Dark Side......
First time at Salute for Flash and I. Great to be able to join in. Another thoroughly enjoyable day. Thanks to everyone for your humour and friendly welcome. Sorry about your Whirlwind Chris but we were only obeying orders. We were lucky enough to find the chip shop and batter the plaice.
So everyone there nice and early for the set-up and suitably attired
A group photo before the first sortie - Johnbiggles (John), Flying Helmut (Tim), Boney10 (Chris), FO Kyte (Rob), Skafloc (Neal), Guntruck (Steve)
Flash is awarded the Military Cross by the Wingco
First game, an early war game with Eindekkers and pushers
]
The first Fokker on its way out
Smoke, fire, gun jams and pilot hit - just wasn't his day...
The Wingco catches light as well.
Soon after a Pfalz bites the dust...
...Quickly followed by a Fokker E.IV. Not exactly the Fokker Scourge we have read about.
The sole surviving Eindekker gets a bead on Kyte. This only survived so long because the nice young lady flying it couldn't tell left from right, and kept away from the nastiness for most of the game. Next move, all the allied planes unsportingly ganged up on her.
Setting up the second game, attack or protect the German submarine, depending which side you were on - Rob and Neal get the munchies
The attack on the sub was going well until the German secret weapon lumbers across the table, shooting at everything in sight
Suddenly the allies forget about attacking the submarine, as they have other things to worry about
The Wingco meets a fiery/watery end
Three heroes of the hour
I only got 3 pics of the BoB game before the camera battery gave out. here the Whirlwind and Hurricanes get stuck into the Stukas
Look behind you...
The Germans just popping down the chippy
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
If anyone has an extra P deck card in a sleeve 4/16 IM Right Hand turn it is Kyte's.

Don't think any of mine used a P deck. What was it for?
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Was this an old WOW card or a new WoG card ?
I have a sleeved card but think it's a t deck will check tomorrow.
It is an old card Chris.
I think you showed me the T deck one at the show.
Rob.
"Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death."
Think I may have a spare, let me check when I get home tomorrow
Sure it will be Si - Brian (Archimadus) & Mark (Chequers) are the other forum members there, Brian owns the Zep & we all have Gothas ! I will let you know next time they have a game on.
That is very good of you Chris.
Thanks, but if I can't find it I will just print a copy.

SQN Leader Guntruck receives his well deserved medal from the WingCO.
A good start to proceedings. The shape of things to come.
The quiet before the storm.
Two shots of the storm around game 2, save the U Boat.
The Staaken lumbers across the table.
Le 'Frog' and Tommie take on the giant!
The battle rotates around the U Boat and Torpedo boat tender.
Where is 'Le Frog' front gunner? He's disappeared sir!
Are you sure he was there a minute ago? Sorry sir can't see him anywhere.
That said the lumbering giant exited stage right.
A fantastic game, never played with sea planes before. Superb.
Now I was going to post the BoB pics here but I reckon that game deserves an AAR special. So look out for it in the WW2 section. (To say it went down to wire and nearly a photo finish would be putting it mildly).
Great day Steve, thoroughly enjoyed it, even if I was hoarse afterwords. SWMBO says thanks, peace and quiet at last.

See you on the Dark Side......
Cracking pictures Neil, and fills in between the ones that I took very nicely too.

Nice pics, and it has to be said Neil made an excellent whipper-in. If anyone didn't know there was a Wings of Glory game going on, they did after his dulcet tones wafted across Excel
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
That's great. Thanks Chris.

ooooh a Staaken seaplane (droooooll)
Some budding pilots
The Raid forms
for some reason these HE111 were painted to blend in with the White cliffs of Dover perhaps
The Westland heading towards the raid
Some of the excellent display of models that was put on, majority I believe from Guntrucks collection.

You been eating onions Chris? You keep repeating yourself. Another fine batch of pics from a great day out. Do we have any indication of an invite for next years shindig yet?
See you on the Dark Side......
Real canny photos there Neil. The hunt the U boat looked a cracker of a game. Anyone do an AAR for it?
I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings
Coming down is the hardest thing
Don't mind doing a Pacific Game. Can bring all the stuff. Don't have any B17's have one B25 (Doolittle).
See you on the Dark Side......
By then I will have a B25 and B17
Must, resist b-17g...
currently in the process of acqiring Spitfires (MkII and MkV) Whirlwinds and hopefully Mosquitos, so a mid war Gestapo beat up operation perhaps? Trains in France?
I should have about a dozen B17s (AIM & WoG) by then, plus assorted fighters
Run for your life - there are stupid people everywhere!
Great photo's love the seaplanes, adds a whole new dimension.
Thats a hell of a line up, well done chaps
Nice to get the chance of seeing myself on fire and smoking again.
Thanks for posting Chris.
