Default Pacific Theatre: Rennell Island Ambush

I translated some older AARs from Czech part of the site here. They have a little diferent format that Battle of France from yesterday. Hope it will be inspiritional.

    Rennell Island Ambush.
    Prague, 12th March 2014
    4 players, 6 planes

Date of mission: 7th February 1943
Location: Rennell Island, Solomon Islands, Pacific Ocean
Weather conditions: clear between sea level and 9000 feet, cloudy at 9000+
Officers: Taisa Jukio Saio, Taji Asaru Tendo, Taji Masado Katoi
    Planes: 2x Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien, 1x Mitsubishi A6M2 Reisen

Mission Report: At 12:20 airplanes flew to overflow the American convoy under the command of Captain Saio. When approaching the shores of the island, our forces was raided by two U.S. Wildcats and one Warhawk planes. All three planes came probably from near airfield. He immediately unleashed a fierce fight when our pilots honored attacked the enemy machines and skillful maneuvers escaped out of their reach. After approximately 15 minutes of the battle lieutenant Kato Mitsubishi sacrificed his life for the Emperor and enemy aircrafts were concentrated on Saio's captain machine. He successfully escaped in the first time, but in next five minutes, he left the battlefield in flames. The situation for lieutenant Tenda has become critical and it did not improve or support Mitsubishi arrival, which was on reconnaissance mission. In this situation there was no other possibility than to retreat back to base.

Notes: Will be notified families of the fallen airmen that their relatives have laid their lives for the honor of the Emperor.

Nice report, Dan. I see you used more planes than players, right? This is what I try to omit. However there are smart players who are able to fly multiple planes - I simply can not! The only exceptions are the solo missions we play during OTT campaings...

    Unhappy

In fact, you are right. There is a hard core in Prague (me, Kubajs, Lino22, Kancelot) and some, less active, members (Ladinek, Jasuna Kozono etc.). And there is a group of inactive players, who can not play often (Shivaja, Watchdog). Ussually, there is a hard core + some random guys from LGS (Ladinek periodically organizes game evenings), but it is hard to catch some new players, because these random guys are just trying many, many games and they are not interested in one ussually. And because 2 vs. 2 battles were boring after some time, we have to play more than one plane. But of course, I enjoy most the game when I have only one (fighter) plane.

PS: Personaly, solo campaign is not a solution for me. I like the social aspect of the game - meet together with other "patients", play with tiny planes and debriefing in near pub (wise talks about planes, SWMBO, kids, life, meaning of life etc.). Just want to meet colleagues who are just as affected as I am

Great AAR Daniel. Yes we play multiple planes too. Usually max'd out at 2 each. Although for the Kanoehe Bay testing we flew 3-4 each as we were short of players and I wanted to see what it was like with 6 attacking planes and 2 defenders. In the end we had 6 attackers and 3 defenders at the RECON show and it worked well.
See you on the Dark Side......

Missed this nice little AAR, somehow, Daniel.

    Nice Pacific action.

Two F4F-4 Wildcats and a P-40 means a lot of firepower for the Allies.

Not.necessary, Sven. Both Ki-84 are really evil planes with their cannons, but for that moment, it worked. Thank you for gour point of view.
By the way, there is still a free slot for Pacific mission on Prague Con.
