Thread: Series 6 revealed!

Is this series in production yet! Have pilots and paint schemes been selected yet? Are these going to come out before the BoB reprint sets?

Sorry, but I want my SBDs asap!

Yes, the SBD is a must have! Darn I should never have got back into the WWII version. I know others have the same feeling, you know, the "Gotta get 'em all" feeling. Or most of them anyway .

I have found that coming to WW2 late, and not being able to get all the early Nexus sets, it has not been a must get them all like WW1 was. This has now moderated my need for every WW1 aircraft too, so I am now getting them on a need to have, or repaint basis.
Does this mean I am in remission?

As in 2015. They do not typically give out month ranges until 2-3 months out from the street date. And those date tends to slip one or two months. All that said, with them not listed on the up coming products page of the Ares site, I'd say they come out some time after May.

I see the Kickstarter for the WWI bombers and the next set of WWI planes due this month. Any idea when these planes may be out? I hope between now and Oct.

I've been trying to stop myself from asking the same question recently. Now that it's out I'd like to join in on that question.

Well since this thread started over 1 year ago I hope they are out soon. I think there have been 2 other sets out since this started so hopefully soon. I guess that SOG and the other games they have there is a time and place that each series/game comes out. Please I want some SBD's.

It looks like Series 6 might get pushed back to allow the BoB starters to move forward in the production queue. This has yet to be confirmed as a done deal to me yet though.

I'm OK with the Battle of Britain starters coming out first!

I would just like something to come out. Although, the planes that Kevin (Miscmini) painted will tide me over nicely.

will the BoB starter come with new planes or just old ones?

  28. #328

They will be closer to the old Deluxe sets (but not the same) and will include some mix of the Series 1 and 2 planes. But the why they are doing to be doing paint jobs going forward is completely different format then what we are used to. I know many of us here are going to be excited about the new format.

I am really excited about getting the BoB planes. Releasing them will end my frustrating and unsuccessful hunt for the 109's and early Spitfires.

On the other hand, moving forward and getting to the SBD Dauntless, F4U Corsair, and P-38 Lightning will be the best way to get sales up in the United States.

Yessir, growing rather impatient myself. Trying to fix up the lack of planes by some other means (I believe you have seen my Merit SBD's) but it's not the same thing.

Cheers for the sneak preview - there are some good choices of aircraft in this new Series: My favourite by far being the Messerschmitt Bf.109K ...

It's now May 2015 and release information / dates for this Series still appears to be unavailable. Any chance of an update please?

Thanks Bob, and I saw the Wildcat you posted, looks great. Nice detail at 1/144 scale. Almost makes me wanna try that scale. I'm just committed to 1/200 already.

Sorry guys, I need a quick vent...I am very frustrated at the moment with trying to keep my gaming group interested in the game. So please excuse my rant...

We were told to expect three WWII releases this year (that was quickly reduced to two, since the Midway stuff is now slotted for 2016), well we are now half way through May, nothing has been released and there is nothing for WGS on the upcoming release calendar through July on Ares' site. Now we are being told the most wanted aircraft in the history of the game (the SBD) is potentially being leapfrogged for yet another starter pack. (If they want some starter packs they should call my LGS and buy back the 100s of unsold ones he has lining his shelves and storage areas.) I am guessing that means series six is yet to begin the production process. So, with the 4 to 6 months it takes to build product and get it to the Western countries, I am thinking we are going to be getting jack crap this year or a Christmas release at best, and its quite frustrating to say the least! As a player trying to keep the game going and interesting, we need new product more often than once every 12 - 18 months! Nexus really hurt the WWII game to begin with and although Ares has made amazing strides in some areas the game has never reached its potential. As popular as the WWI version is, the WWII should be on par, if not more popular seeing as there is a lot more interest by the general public in WWII than WWI. Furthermore, there are a lot more WWII birds still flying the airshow circuits and providing the public with an opportunity to see and touch that period of history. I have every piece of both games, so this isn't a knock or punch at the WWI version as I love both games, just my frustration at the way the WWII game is getting mishandled in my opinion.

As neat as the heavy bombers are, they aren't for everybody (I personally love them!) and I have players who want more divebombers and fighters and aren't as interested in escorting and intercepting bombers, but enjoy more of the dogfighting aspect! If I can't add more planes for people to buy in the near future, not only is my lGS considering cutting the line, we will lose our night to play.

I have already been clued (by a little birdie) in about the details of what we are getting with the new way of reprinting WOW series 1 and 2 in the BOB and Midway packs, and while I agree that its gonna be great and there will be tons and I mean tons of new options going forward in aircraft selection opportunities, sadly it might come too late for my group and who knows, the game as a whole. This Fall will be two years since the last time any sort of fighter has been released and honestly that is too damn long.

Oh and yes, I know Ares doesn't "owe me" anything, so you can stop from posting that useless dribble that many individuals choose to post on game forums when people express a concern, displeasure, or criticism of the company, game piece, or rule change. If you have nothing constructive to add to the conversation, please refrain from responding. thanks!

I'm with you totally Daniel. But all we can do is sit and wait. Gamer's are starving to get more fighters. This game is so much fun and not with a lot of tokens all over the gaming mat. I love it.

    If I were doing a BoB super deluxe starter pack... 2 Hurris, 2 Spits, 1 Bf109E, 1 Bf110C, 1 Ju-87B, 1 He-111H.
Or just a Bf109E and Spit, and Bf110C and Hurricane.

These ideas would go down well with newcomers to the game ... Like myself (well, still relatively a newcomer!) who has missed out on the Hurricanes and Bf.109s ... May be OK for the Spitfires at not too silly a price

Yes, I second that. Might be a bit pricey to start though. Maybe split them into Axis and Allied starter sets as I believe was discussed before.

I will wait patiently for new series. I remenber very well how tough was these months between Nexus and Ares. There are many good ideas in last posts, hope someone from Ares would read it, but I am cought so I wilk wait. But...better sonner...please...

  47. #347

Two years is ridiculous especially when the two sets of fighters they have produced since 2012 are not really compatible with each other. Maybe Ares has too many irons in the fire, I don't know. For the WWII fan that is way to long of a drought and it does make it hard to stay interested (especially for the casual fan I imagine). I wouldn't think a production goal of 2 releases a year would be that difficult and there is no excuse not to have at least one production run of fighters. They just aren't focused on WWII at all, it appears to be an afterthought.

  48. #348

I want them sooner than later too, but I can't follow the argument that there were no battles possible with the existing WGS ARES GAMES fighters.

ARES GAMES WGS stuff has more models and different types then the original X-WING stuff.

The WGS minature game is only a part of Ares Games minature production beside WGF & SOG and this miniature section is only a part of the ARES GAMES company.

A good friend and capital forumer told me: Buy the stuff and they will produce more. I did, but the number of my co-buyers is a manageable quantity.

So if the WGS section would sell miniatures like FFG sells the X-Wing stuff, they would bombard us with new minis, paint shemes, bombers, etc.

When the Oberst give us this sneak preview, everybody was happy. He and Ares Games didn't promise us a release date. But I talked this weeked to Andrea the game designer and the painting shemes for the Dauntless bombers are choosen. (That's all I know - didn't see anything or get more information - and didn't ask for a release).

So I understand anybody who complains if he's a pure WGS gamer and plays every week WGS. This is not satisfying.

Please be patient - we will get them.

Agree 100%. I have always felt like the WWII version is the neglected sibling. With the right marketing and product releases the WGS version could easily surpass WGF. As stated above I love both versions but I do prefer WGS and it just pains me that they aren't getting equal treatment.

2 years is FAR too long. It's almost impossible to find anyone down here to play in the first place let alone entice them with a vast range of popular fighters and planes.
