And if you spray light brown and then green with a tooth brush you'll have a desert cammo... Unfortunately Germans were out of North Africa when the 109K appeared... Just saying...

They also did some last minute change to plans that made them save money on authors' royalties.
But this was a little saving after all, not so much money was destined to that. You are correct, circulation is the real issue.
Please spread the new that the game is still alive, growing and indipendent (several shops received false rumors about the game death, takeover by a larger company stopping it and such, and then dropped the line). Post photos around. Tell about it in social networks. This will help for sure. Thanks a lot for all you are doing - this and more, like the events quoted in this thread!

Yep, the old FFG Buddy Effing. Little cost savings, MAJOR goodwill loss among us who know the story--to the point that my collection of Star Destroyer miniatures and models will forever be incomplete because I refuse to give FFG so much as a dime ever again despite their SD's being some of the best sculpts ever made. SMC, FFG!

Andrea, you're going to laugh at this... one of the Top Ten things on my Lottery Winning List is to buy a 49% or so stake in Ares and help remedy the "under-capitalization problem." It's not top of the list, but almost all that's higher are practical things for family like having a house built in more agreeable territory and getting my relatives and I moved in along with someplace similar in the BC backwoods for my gal's parents to retire to.

Given that the landing characteristics of the late-war 109G, etc, were described as 'malicious' is it any wonder that Czech pilots hated the Avia S-199. They had nearly all flown Spitfire IXs with the RAF and were presented with the S-199 when they went home. Their nickname for it was 'Mule' (Mezek).

All 109s were bad at landing and take-off (5% or 1,500 were written off that way) but the problem got worse as engine power and weight increased.

Coolstuff Clearance sale has series #6 planes:

    Wizards and Warriors Sale

Both Euro versions of the American planes are on clearance. This will continue to happen with US sales of this type of plane. Historically, a local game store had a Martlet on the shelf long after everything else in the set was sold out. I hope Ares does not make this mistake with the Corsair and Lightning and produces x3 with USA markings like they did the Mustang. The Japanese issue is more about the limitation of only being in the Pacific theater so the audience is narrower. Of note, Japan is also the only country of the big four to not have any two prop planes.

I'll take it. Just ordered some. I'll gladly buy an ARES model with maneuver deck for an on the cheap repaint. I agree though they do make some strange choices.
I bought a dozen Martlets for half price or less and repainted them.

That is awesome! Do you have any group photos of all the reprints?

No photo of all of them but I did post a photo of the first 6 in the painting showcase.

Found it. They look nice in a group of six.

    Umm -- Japan had some twin-engines, including a fighter, Nakajima's J1N _Gekko_: http://www.combinedfleet.com/ijna/j1n.htm . There was also the little-known anti-sub-warfare plane Kyushu's Q1W _Tokai_: http://www.combinedfleet.com/ijna/q1w.htm ; with the optional F-mount 20mms, it could be used for ground-attack.

Clarification: No two prop planes released by Ares. They may not be on the Ares radar but we know they are out there somewhere...

I think you mean the WoG releases.

Still hoping for a Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu as two enginged heavy fighter.

Right. Japanese aircraft are neglected by ARES, IMHO. Judy does not fill the gap - frankly - I have not seen anybody using them so far. A two engine heavy fighter or a light bomber would be a great choice. A greater than the Lanc.

Mitsubishi G4M1 'Betty'. That would be enough in the short term to make the Japanese a much more attractive option.

Not sure why Nakajima Ki.44-IIb e Ki.44-IIc would be a priority for series 7 because the Hayate (already produced) was a better plane. In a perfect world I would like to see the “Betty” and "Lightning" released in the same set. I am liking the other options people are throwing out too!

Totally OT but has Ares indicated anything about an eventual Mosquito?

Just saw this and there are still a number of planes that can be put out. Early war planes Buffalo, Fairey Battle/Fulmar and I 16. Of course P-38, Corsair and Mosquito. So far just the Yak 1 for the Russians. How about some more Russian planes, Stormovick or SB 2. Still waiting for torpedo planes, Kate and Devastator or Avenger. Also as mentioned Betty and SM79. So many WWII planes they can add to what we have.

More Sales with series 6 planes at Miniature Market Bigger than Black Friday Sale

Search limited to "wings of"planes (but for some reason an X-wing model too): Wings of...

Interesting to see what they are trying to get rid of. Two fire sale Dewoitine's, two bi-planes and virtually the same airplanes from series #6 that are deep discounted at Coolstuff, most notably the Japanese dive bombers and the Euro Dauntless-ish & Thunderbolt. If you do a regular WoG search on Miniature Market you will see they carry other planes but the rest are under the 20+ in stock threshold that triggers clearance status. In fact, they only have one Mustang total left. I hope these two sales are enough of an indicator to influence future Ares decisions about WWII plane choices. I think it is reasonable to think that a Midway Dauntless or a James “Jug” Curran Thunderbolt would not be in the bargain bin.

Absolutely. And I bet they would sell much better then Lancs.

I smell it! The initial wave is acrid but then a scent of cinnamon and brown sugar comes through like a vision of better times... or perhaps that is the cologne of your humor?
