Thread: Series 6 revealed!

Waiting for the "Unboxing Video", to decide whether I get any of these.

Depending on the accessories (Pilot Skill or Upgrade cards), I may get one or two, but only for those, as the planes are not for a period I am playing in. So, someone has to post up what comes in the boxes, please?!

It would be extra sweet if Ares had them at their booth at Origins...

There are two planes that I am thinking of getting. But I want to see what existing trays if any they fit into.

New additional rules for the Bf 109K

"Hartmann’s Bf.109 K featured in Wings of Glory includes two skill cards: “Acrobatic pilot,” which allows performance of a non-straight maneuver after an Immelmann or a Split-S, and “Super ace," which lets the player discard two recovery counters from each of the ace’s skills after each maneuver, rather than just one."

"The Bf.109 K from 9 Staffel/JG 3 featured in Wings of Glory includes the additional skill card “Intuitive,” which requires the Tailing optional rule to be used. The ace can tail a plane even if the ruler checking for the tailing passes across a lateral side of the target base (but not the front) instead of the rear. It can be used once per game, and is valid for one turn."

"The JG 77 Bf.109 K-4 in Wings of Glory comes with the additional skill card “Perfect Aim,” allowing its pilot to choose to have his opponent take an additional counter of damage, even if he did not shoot at the same airplane in the previous firing phase."

    Bf. 109K:

The Airplane Packs come with two additional cards, which introduce the optional rule “Jamming” and optional armament. The Bf.109 K-4 30 mm MK 108 Motorkanone often jammed in action. If the “Jamming” optional rule is in use, when the Bf.109 K-4 fires, the player separately draws its damage counter (the D at short range, the C at long range). If that counter is a 0, the target player reveals it. The firing player then draws an A damage counter and shows it: if it is a 0, the Motorkanone is jammed and the Bf.109 fires at CC/C for the rest of the game. In any case, the A counter is shuffled back among the other counters. Even when the Motorkanone is unjammed, the player can choose to fire at CC/C rather than at full power, to prevent jamming.

With the optional armament card, the Bf.109 K-4 may be equipped with two additional 20 mm Mauser MG 151/20 cannons in gondola pods under the wing - if it does, put the card beside the game mat to remember. This gives an additional CC firepower at short range, C at long range.

It all sounds too good to be true! Gunpods - very cool indeed, but what about maneuvrability then?

Just quickly as I cannot see it mentioned: Ares on www.aresgames.eu are listing all of WGS Series 6 as US Release Date - June 17th 2016.

Does anyone have any ideas as to when Series 6 will be released elsewhere yet please or is it still hard to tell?

If it is anything like the WGF Giants of the Sky release Europe was hit within three weeks of the US Release and Oceana within five.

Can I wait for the unboxing videos? Can I hell as like - wonder who will be the first Member to receive and post pics / videos of Series 6 ...

Oh definitely interested. I'll probably have to wait until after Origins to look at them.

Ares Facebook page posted a shipping invoice on 1 Jun, saying the latest plane packs and Duel Packs arrived at the Chicago warehouse. There should be mass shippings to retailers this coming week, if they haven't already started Friday.

There is an ebay retailer already selling them. I messaged him earlier today saying that the street date was 17th June, he said his distributor said nothing about it, that he has them on hand. Perhaps it might help compel him to stick to the rules if a few others here messaged him.. I'm just aware its unfair for all the other retailers.

Yes, I have already started to receive my orders and have more enroute. They are exceptional! Very very very pleased to finally have access to a proper authentic Dauntless miniature after all these years, Cheers Ares! Now about series 7....get me an official Corsair and Lightning and I just might die and go to heaven!

Also, I certainly hope the Midway started box has a proper Midway Dauntless. It was kinda disheartening to me anyway that a Dauntless in this series wasn't produced to represent its finest hour. I am hoping that is because Ares has decided to hold it back in reserve for the aforementioned Midway Starter pack. It appears the Stuka will make its triumphant return in the BoB starter, so here is hoping there will be a dive bomber, specifically the Dauntless in the Midway version!

The last I saw on this Forum, Ares stated that the 'Battle of Britain' set will be all fighters, no dive-bomber...........................

Thanks, Tim! Hmmm, I could have sworn the Stuka was confirmed for the BoB pack. But, it wouldn't be the first time I have been wrong about something, nor the last time either.

It might be me, not you! I can't remember where I saw this.............

Anyway, the Dauntless should be a dead cert for the 'Midway' set, probably coupled with a Wildcat, and facing a 'Val' and a 'Zeke'.

The BoB Starter Set will include fighters. The BoB Airplane Packs (or maybe Squadron Packs) will include Stukas and shall be on sale at the same time of the Starter Set.

Series 6 minis seems to be available. Here pictures from the Game Haven in Dayton, Ohio, just in front the USAAF Museum:
    https://boardgamegeek.com/image/3064...airplane-packs

    https://boardgamegeek.com/image/3064...airplane-packs
    https://boardgamegeek.com/image/3064...airplane-packs
And as you see, the P-47 pilot is not gazed by a silver fuselage in front of him.

To reassure you, the optional card for gun pods with 20 mm guns on the Bf109K-4 gives a better firepower but also prevents the use of two maneuvre cards to represent the decreased agility.

Have fun everybody, and thanks so much for your patience.

A geeat thank you to all people at Origins and everywhere demoing the game!

Thanks for the clarification! So, we will see the return of the Stuka, yeah! But not in the actual starter itself, but in the airplane/squadron packs! I love it! Squadron packs? Wow, those could be amazing! Any chance we see this in 2016, or is 2017 the more likely time frame?

I can not say. But I'd bet on 2016.
No matter the name, they will be individual packs with a single plane (so that the cost will be reasonable) but with decals to personalize it as different planes of the same unit (so that if you buy more than one, you can get a little squadron to play).

We were able to buy new series 6 planes at Ares booth during Origins. Bought some more 109Ks and a P-47. And had a chance to fly the K version equipped with additional gun pods during Bounce the Box mission on Friday. Shot down one B-17 all by myself.

Mixed feelings. The miniature has some flaws, some visible from a table top point of view. However, the product as a whole is top notch, not seen before. Optional armament and pilot cards plus rules for Motorkanone jamming - sweet!
It is a VERY capable and versatile fighter. I flew inside the bomber box and could easily stay with the B-17 in "touch" for a couple of turns enough to take it down.
Aha, my first all out salvo from close distance delivered 24 points of damage. Nice? Of course!

There is precedent for this. The Balloon Busters set came with decals for different nationalities so you could customise your balloons. It worked out ok.
