Thread: My next paper projects - to complement my Wings of War and Glory Campaign

Default My next paper projects - to complement my Wings of War and Glory Campaign

To keep up with my recent solo campaign, I need some early war beasts.

My campaign starts in 1915 here:

    http://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/ent...-the-Aerodrome

The Nieuport 11 bebe is coming to my campaign in January 1916 so I've found these from der Kampfflieger:

    http://www.wargamevault.com/product/...erm=1%2F72+nie

11 Nieuport 11 at 1/72 scale. You just have to print them at 50%.
    They are perfect and beautiful.
I'll make 4 French and one German...

    Then the Airco DH-2:

I've got a pair from ARES, but I need some more and I have to transform one in the ride of a famous British Ace - when he was still in the beginning of his career.

    Then the Pup!

    http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/models/...pwith-Pup.html

I just can't seem to find a decent Albatros D.II...

    Edited:
Just bought 2 paper 1/72 Albatros D.I (very easily converted to D.II's) from kampfflieger (Roman) and they are beautiful. Now I'm set to go.

There are a bunch of them on ecardmodels.com:

I'll look forward to your builds. I need to do up a bunch of early war planes badly, but have such a case of gamers ADD it's not funny.

I would find it very difficult to build a 1/33 scale model at 1/144 scale.
When the small parts are reduced to 23% they become microscopic.

Much better to reduce a 1/72 scale model to 50%.
Then the small parts are only half as small.

I've got a Spad XIII that I'm working on that was 1/33 that is coming along fine. The only thing that came out really too small was all the little gagues on the dash, the guns, & the exaust pipes, all of which I can do without or work around, so it's not totally undoable. As long as I've got the wings, fuselage, landing gear & tail, I'm good.

But I do concede that anything smaller than probably a windscreen or seat would be a problem. Might depend on how much detail you want, if you're ok w/ substituting things like wire for the guns, or if there are parts from other paper models you could print out & swap.

    Rob, Ken is correct.
    It's much harder.
I know that there is a 1/60 Albatros D.II somewhere. I just have to find it and buy it.

OK. Amybe I'm not deep enough into the Spad I'm working on to notice the difference yet. When I finish it I'll post some pics & thoughts on how much of a difference there was.

The first one is the hardest.

You will build the next 4 as quick as Clipper's elves.

Perhaps not, Joaquim, but you have a cute little Bebe there.

It's just patience, good use of some paper technics and time.
Believe me, you'd be surprised how far you can go.
