Default WoG - London Event January Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th - any takers

    Hi folks
Just wondering who would, in theory, be up for a days flying on one of these two days?
Venue would be ENFIELD in North London for the Saturday and either Finchley or Hockley (near Southend) for the Sunday. ENFIELD and FINCHLEY are both within easy striking distance of the M1, M11 via the M25 and also easy to get to by train/underground.

Day would be a relaxed themed competition for WWI and WWII players with flying medals (from the RAF museum) for winners. Depending on numbers the cost would be around 5-8 quid for the day.

Need to get sufficient interest so let me know which date would be best if you are interested.

Any other people vaguely interested as I have a couple of venues open and TTN are very keen on a campaign day or two.

I'm in. Saturday is preferable, but Sunday is ok too. I prefer WGS but I'm fine with WGF. Let me know what is decided.

Cool - will let you know. It will be a two period affair anyway as our local players tend to play just one or the other anyway.

    Hi
Well we went for the SUNDAY so that would be down at Tabletop Nation in Hockley from 11 (running along side a Star Trek attack wing contest as well. Should be a good session. However, we are running a campaign on Tuesday nights for WGs in Enfield starting on the 14th.

OK chaps - Sortie on Sunday. Not a huge amount of us (5-8) but will be a good day anyway. The Star Trek Attack wing comp starts at 11, I am down from 10 so we should be free to go from 11:15 once I start the Trekkies off. There are a few people interested in seeing how the game plays as well which is good. Plan is to have a few linked games (either WGS or WGF depending on what people want) I have a quick and easy campaign system which seems to work ok.

SAT NAV - Tabletop Nation 17 Eldon Way, SS5 4AD Hockley
Gaming at the centre is free - they sell junk food and have a bar - shops 200m away

    See you Sunday

Great day - Tim's collection is awe inspiring and seems to be only eclipsed by his ability to pull/draw explosions!
We had a largish multiplayer WGF game and then a large WGS game where the four of us forum members introduced another 3 to the joys of WG. They were fresh from the Star Trek comp I was running along side the frivolity and all loved it. In fact a lot of the players who had to go have asked me to go down another time so they can try it. We did take loads of photos which will appear at some point.

Great to meet people off the forum and Tim even gave me an early (or late depending on how you look at it) xmas present of 20 gimbal mounts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now off to mount them on some Spits and Hurries.

Hopefully we can get a larger get together at the venue one weekend soonish !

A good days flying, I have to agree with Rich, Tim certainly has an impressive collection of WWI planes and is also taking a zeppelin to Doncaster get together.
He did pre warn us of his bad luck with explosions, but three in two games was quite remarkable.
All in all an enjoyable day.

    FOUR!!!
Three planes down in WW1, two to explosions, then three more down in WW2, two to explosions!!!
As the old song says "If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all!"
Great fun day though, good to meet Rich, Paul and the first-timers. Hope to meet up again soon.
If I can figure out how to post pictures in an album without them all coming out in reverse order, I'll upload them soon.
    Cheers all!

No show just Tabletop Nation gaming center

My best moment of the day

I'd managed to dive down and keep on the tail of this 109 until its end.

    Worst moment of day:
    Name: bombers come.jpg
Views: 216
Size: 163.8 KB

I kept my concentration of the 109 and forgot that there was a chance of the two bombers appearing on the table !!!!!

We had planes entering the fray randomly (well there was an increasing probability, 6 end of first 6 cards then 5,6 at end of second six etc until they arrived. RAF started with a vic of Hurries and the Luft. with two rotten then a vic of Spits and the two HE111 ) Spits came on first roll while the bombers must have hit a head wind and took ages. Scenario worked well to feed more planes in for the players and in the end a bomber got through to destroy the goods yard.

WWII was a bit of a shock for Tim I think but everyone playing was happy and wanted more!

I learnt a lot playing the WWI version with Tim and Paul - the turning circle on the planes versus the WWII ones I am used to flying was great, having to plot 3 ahead was OK til I went wrong and took a tour of the enemy lines for a couple of turns - although in fairness I was waiting for Tim to find all the explosion cards before I had to take damage

Load one at a time straight from PC and then you can add text between them - selecting them all at once will upload them like it did in your post I suspect with no chance of adding text.
