    A new Chapter is up:

    Chapter 8 - Dangerous Dance

I hope that you enjoy it.

Yes Quim, I enjoyed it very much.
You were very unlucky not to be able to break for home cleanly.
For a moment, it looked as if you were going to get away with it there.
    Rob.

    Thanks, Rob.
For a moment there I too thought I would be able to save the prototype. But alas, too many enemy planes in the air and too many jams.
But it was fun to play.
Very soon the Nieuport 11's and DH2's will arrive to the front and we'll see what will be then.

Interlude 5: Dangerous Waltz is up.

    You can find it here.

Next mission will see the arriving of the scourge of the 1st Fokker Scourge. The Nieuport 11 bebe:

It may take a while. I must first build one more N11 and tweak with the E deck.

Another intriguing interlude in the story. Will a romance develop between our hero and Ruth, Will he receive the Blue Max, or just max out. Stay tuned for next weeks stirring episode of Wings of War and Glory.

    Ah Rita!!
Will it a romance be born or a tragedy destroy the innocence of the pilot and the nurse?
We will see its seeds in the next missions.

I know I'm WAY late to this thread; but I just wanted to say: thanks for an awesome story/campaign! It has inspired me to start running my own ('Hats in the Ring' USAS 1918) and I just wanted to let you know that this has been a GREAT model to try and emulate! Thanks again!

Thank you for your kind words, Max!
    Strange...
I just finished one more plane for continuing this campaign.
I just have to print and laminate another set of solo cards because I left mine in Portugal...

    Scouts introduction in 1916:

    January – Nieuport 11
    February – D.H.2
    March – Halberstadt D.II / Nieuport 17

    August – Spad VII
    October – Albatros D.I
    November – Albatros D.II

Am I missing anything? Are the dates correct?

    Thanks Rob.
    It makes sense.
But I've read somewhere that the first Pups to reach the front lines was in beginning of May...

I could be wrong Quim, but I'm sure that someone will put me right if so.
Just checked my Osprey and they say may for operational trials with Naval A, and by September the first few were reaching Naval Squadrons.

From memory (IOW, don't quote me on this, I could easily be wrong), the Pup was first issued to No. 1 Naval Squadron for trials in May, 1916. Then actually introduced to combat over the Western Front in September/October, 1916: http://www.theaerodrome.com/aircraft...opwith_pup.php seems to back me up on that last detail, at least.

Operational trials in May. Operational in October, yes. That's it.

    Two-seaters Operational trials and Service:

    Be2C - early 1915
    Avro 504 - Late 1915
    Sopwith 1˝ Strutter - February 1916
    Roland C.II - Spring 1916
    R.E.8 - November 1916
    D.H.4 - January 1917
    Breguet Br.14 - January 1917
    Rumpler C.IV - January 1917
    Bristol F2B - April 1917
    Phonix C.I - January 1918
    Ufag C.I - April/October 1918

    Any one more?

At work, not at home with my references handy, but I'll consider posting what I have on the Cl-class two seat fighters/ground attack for the Germans.

So, after checking my usual go-to German Combat Plane, cross-referencing with the Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft, and also cross-referencing with some web sources:

Halberstadt Cl-II: ordered July 1917, operational at front August 1917
Halberstadt Cl-IV: operational at front June or July 1918
Hannover Cl-III & Cl-IIIa (the only real difference being which engine equipped): operational at front March 1918 (predecessor Cl-II in mid-1917
Junkers Cl-I (company designatin J 10) operational at front May 1918 (this one is slightly iffy).

    Hope this helps.

it's going now into its 3rd year.
It started in the Summer of 1915 and now its March 1916.
