This looks great Dave. Nice work.
Yes Stark picked up this plane on the 24th August 1918 when he was commanding Jasta 35b. He flew it till the end of the war.
There's a great story in Stark's book how ltn Kämmerer took his D.VII on a test flight the day after picking up his new plane. He came across a lone British two seater, got on its tail only to find that the ammo hadn't been loaded in his new plane yet. The observer's gun jammed and as they had a D.VII on their tail they landed, were taken prisoners of war and the plane captured. It was the most peaceful dogfight ever without a single shot fired.
Keep up the good work Dave.

Great story, Ian! How funny.
Pretty looking bird, Dave. I don't know much about Stark or Jasta 35 - did they all fly purple planes?!?
The Jasta markings were the Chevron on the top and bottom wing, the rest of the Jasta had white chevrons on the top wing but Stark had lilac. They had 6 D.VIIs but lost one quite quickly, then Pfalz D.XIIs were given to the Jasta to replace the old Roland and Albatros fighters on 1st September. I've done a fair bit of research on them. Stark's book "Wings of War" is a good read and I'd recommend it.

Excellent work David - or should I say labour of love ? Your models are truly inspiring.
