Saw an item on the news this morning about Stow Maries Aerodrome near Chelmsford, which is apparently the last WWI aerodrome in the country. It was closed down in 1919 after the war and was used for agricultural use until recently but is now being restored to its former condition. The aerodrome was home to 37 (Home Defence) squadron RFC. A lot of restoration work is taking place on the buildings and also vehicles. There are photos of a camel landing there for the first time in 90 years in the gallery. Looks like it might be worth a visit.
