_Forrestal_, not _Enterprise_. (Unless _Enterprise_ also went for that amount.)

While the sea elves were doing their thing, the air elves have been busy too, first the SBD's got a slight mod to the wing outline:
First coats and then second of colors,
decided not decide on the PBY's yet, one gray and one blue
Island gets magnets and tin plates to secure it to the flight deck
Last of the gun added, now the cranes, boats, and stairways . . . will it ever end?
Magnificent Clipper! Just Magnificent!!!!
Nice preview pictures, David!
I am starting to think that this will be your best yet.

David I have to say you are one sick (awesome) person. Building something like that from scratch is unbelievable.
Dave, at Midway almost all US aircraft would have been a shade of blue-gray called M-485 on top, with a Neutral Gray undersurface.

Looking the real McCoy Dave. Be great to see it in action.

Geees, I get busy and stay away for a couple of days, and look what happens.
There isn't a suitable smiley for my reaction so just
BTW, back at post #60, you said you modified the SDBs wings; what was wrong with the mini?

Simply amazing stuff!

This is getting rediculous! Some one stop me . . . my detail list keeps growing . . . sighting down the flight deck
An aerial view . . . need a bigger island
A full and busy flight deck indeed!
Island complete with masts and radar screen . . .
Now for the portals and some weathering, and oh yeah, a flag . . . it is never going to end is it . . .
Stop you? Yeh, right, like that's possible
Looking good, David, but where are the other 6 going to go
And what's Mrs. Clipper say about this

Seriously looking good man!
Incomparable Dave, but when are you going to put all the rivets in?
Why did I say that?

I've seen some impressive things here, but this one beats them all by a long sea mile.
and some deck crew waving those aircraft off.Incomparable Dave, but when are you going to put all the rivets in?

See you on the Dark Side......
Here is a place for those. The only problem is they seem to have been out of stock for the last six months.

Do a search on ebay for "1:200 scale people" or "Z scale people" and you will find scads. Affordable too. The same goes for 1:144.
Amazing.
Indeed amazing.
Maybe I should start a 1/200 Japanese WW II Kaidai class submarine project now.
The resin was wonderfully easy to trim, just a bit harder than styrene. I really like the AIM models to work with, will be adding more from them in the future along with more of their decals to redo my 8 RAF Wildcats for the Carrrier war, unless I just build a British Carrier . . . that would save me the repainting!
Mrs Clipper arrived home yesterday and thought it looked "Cool" she has not been informed of the "other 6" yet. The elves were busy doing house chores and tidying up the place all night, the house also passed inspection-an accomplishment that surpasses the Yorktown project : ) 6 weeks of building frenzy leaves a significant debris field!
Dave, re "it never ends", you should talk to a guy named Gabe Suranyi in Plano, TX about his scratchbuilt 1/72 CVN-65 Enterprise... thing takes up its own dedicated ROOM in his house.
So with some of the ideas I guess we will be seeing a bunch of little people running around the deck. He always keeps the elves busy.
Clipper, you are just one amazing guy! Thank god we're not doing Wings of the Galaxy, you would take over the State! Thanks for allowing all us poor mortals the chance to see the great things you create.
Looking a real treat Dave.
However, I think the Japanese were a bit premature launching an attack before they have a Carrier to land back onto. That is of course if any of them get back!

Wish I could play a game with your navy.
And not to take anything away from Clipper's magnificent work, or this guy, but if you want to see something else really big (although 'only' a CVL, it is at least a WWII-era ship) - http://144airbattle.blogspot.co.uk/2...a-fayette.html

David firstly a wonderful job, you are a master. Secondly if you want deck crew try Langton Minatures they make WW1 1/200 navy figures.
