I'd second those thanks. I only made it up for Sunday, but had a great day. No stunning kills, but at least I only got shot down once. And before anyone else leaps to point it out, that was by a teenage girl. On the plus side, I believe I was seriously irritating to a zeppelin!

And very welcome she will be too Andy. I would be proud to fly as her wingman....better behind her deadly guns than in front...err no, better in front than behind, make that better to fly alongside then she can't shoot me with either guns! (You'll have to see the pics from Kaneohe Bay to work that one out.)

What a bloody great weekend - so nice to meet so many friends (new and old) from near and far (and very far). Some great games with great people.
Amazed and delighted I survived the entire weekend without being shot down once, although evading 4 x Fokker D.VII in a shot up SE.5a long enough to exit the playing area on a run for my own lines will stick in the memory for a long time - ooh it was tense, and a very very close run thing.

Glad everyone liked the venue and that Doncaster didn't disappoint.

Lots of folk deserve many thanks but I would like to add a special thank you to Simon (Strangely Brown) for the WW1 campaign on the Saturday - possibly the best days flying I have ever had (certainly the most successful - god I love Brisfits... mind you I think I managed to convert another to the joys of the two seater and it was a pleasure to witness the carnage caused by Deborah in her F2b - all the way from the US of A to show us how it should be done - nice of Pete to do all the ground work and let us claim all the kills - what a gent...)

Lots of great photo's to upload, but its been a long day and am well and truly shattered - ironic as I live 5 minutes away but still had over two hours of driving after I finished (curse of the parental taxi !!!).

Looking forward to seeing the reports and what I am sure will be an amazing set of photos from all concerned.

To those that missed it - Unlucky, hopefully next year you will be able to share what was a great weekend.

    Thank you and good night

Chris, wasn't the first time that you were observed running, I mean leaving the battlefield in your Brisfit...you'll have to wait for the finale pics chaps to find out why.

What a fantastic way to spend a weekend. A true, international Aerodrome gathering that was bloody good fun, thrilling and exciting and what a way to put faces to names and make new friends. Cheers to all who attended and made it a memorable first UK Aerodrome Gathering and an especially grateful thank you to Peter, Deborah, Paul, Mary, Thomas and Andrzej for making the long journey to make it even more memorable.

A huge thanks to all concerned, that was one of the best weekends I've had in a long time, then again how could it not be with a such a cracking bunch of people. The whole weekend was fun from start to finish, the Winco was wearing his asbestos longjohns and Neil seemed to have great fun and turning left instead of right and vice versa. Tim, I hope you don't mind but I added WGS to the bottom of that list you were making, you know you really want to dip your toe in the water! Looking forward to next year, thanks.

An excellent weekend, thanks to all for a really fun event, to the organisers for making all run so smoothly and to the museum for their hospitality - what an excellent venue. It was great to see so many faces from the Aerodrome, old and new, and especially good to meet up with Andy and Thomas after my trip to Prague last year.

Apologies from not being on top form - I was struck down with the lurgy just before coming to the event. I hope my constant sneeze explosions and general "sitting in a corner and dying" demenour didn't detract from anyone's enjoyment.

I was quite pleased with how "Wings and Waves of Glory" went and after writing up the things that I'd scoped out before the game I now have a more robust set of house rules for CMBs, MLs and submarines.

Looking forward to what 2015 has in store for us!

Thank you UK Wing members for a spectacular Wings of Glory weekend. I was over the moon being there, shaking hands with friends and play with the old and new pilots.
There will be more pictures and reports posted when I am back home with all the presents and prizes I was given
"But the games were not that important - the people were"
My special, thanks go to F.O.Kyte the spiritus movens of the games, Strangely Brown, Boney10 and Skafloc who sacrificed their gaming pleasures for being Game Masters for all

I appear to be fending it off as well!

I can only echo the comments of the chaps posting above!
I had really high levels of anticipation for the upcoming fun and games, but the actual experience exceeded even these!

A great weekend, made more special by the prescence and contributions of all concerned. I laughed so much it hurt.

Special thanks to Andrzej, Thomas, Peter, Deborah, Paul and Mary for going to such great lengths to attend; to all the organisers, for investing so much time and effort into filling the whole weekend with exciting fun-packed games; to everyone for shooting me so full of holes, fires and explosions all weekend!!!

Finally, three people in particular: -
Neil, for providing me with a set of his magnetic Zeppelin Damage tokens/charts (guess what my local club will be doing at the Christmas bash?)
Peter, for my luvverly flickering flame crash marker (note to self - must get more BATTERIES!!!)
Chris Hedeby, for ferrying me to The Works to pick up the WW1 storage boxes - I am most grateful.

Now to sort out a couple of hundred photographs........................

Now the weekend is over, it is good to hear all had a good time, I know
    I did, very much so.

I will post the pics I took next week, due to work, but would like to say a big thanks to all for attending, it was really good to meet you.
    To all the games masters,
I would have liked to have seen the scenario from Thomas but time was against us.
Also to Dom , from Doms Decals, for donating a lovely painted custom decal Albatross as a prize, fittingly won by a new member for reaching ace status on the Saturday.
Also to Daryl from Kaiser Rushforth, who also donated two KR cases with WoG inserts as prizes, lucky winners , I hope you enjoy.
I was quite envious of this.

If the rumblings I heard over the weekend pan out, we will see you all next year for another weekend bash, for aerodrome members.

Cheers. We should be at Castle Donington in a couple of weeks, but only for a swift shopping trip. We'll stop by and say hello, though. Just don't expect me to remember everyone's names!!

Well we had a stunning weekend; meeting old friends, some of them for the first time, and making new friends.
Hannah(13) played herself out both days,
Amy (16) thoroughly enjoyed beating people up with her pink RolandCII and DVII.
Ruth also had a great time, such that I can look forward to being shot down on a regular basis.
Stangely Brown ran the games we took part in on both days, I cannot thank him enough for being such a great GM, and making our battles so enjoyable. In particular BoB which was the girls first introduction to WGS.
Thanks to everyone who organised and ran the event, and thanks to all who took part and made the weekend so memorable.
Thanks also for the KR case, which you awarded me, I really didn't see that coming!

I myself fell victim to that D.VII. There was a certain inevitability about her piloting; once she saw me then I just knew I was dead meat! Certainly Amy is a force to be reckoned with and I'd like to thank her for not gloating over downing my (loaned - thanks, Chris) DH4.

I would like to thank everyone for making me so welcome on Saturday at Doncaster, for a fabulous and fun filled introduction to Wings of War . Quite clearly many people had done a huge amount of work organising the venue and giving up their time to prepare different events for the rest of us. As a complete novice and stranger I had expected to stand by watch the experts in order to learn the rudiments of the game from a distance. Instead I met a great group of friendly and welcoming people and felt at home right away. I was encouraged and offered a seat at the table from the start and thoroughly enjoyed my day.

When my name was called to receive a prize Albatross, at the end of the day, you could have knocked me over with a feather. Stunned doesn't come close. The model now takes pride of place in my growing collection, and will always remind me of a fantastic group of people who I am honoured to name as friends.

    Thank you all.

I would like to add my thanks to you all for attending the event, without whom none of the enjoyment would have taken place . I have already thanked my team, who really took most of the work of organizing the event off my shoulders. Extra thanks To Mrs K for acting as driver, and shuttle bus.To The Oberst for supplying not only the superb Trophies, but also his bases for the aircraft prizes, and his engraving of the glasses, none of which he has yet let me pay him for. Our overseas members, who I trust had an enjoyable sojurn in the sun filled? Yorkshire. vales. To John Biggles for putting up with his daughter and my self's rendition of four two. An extra thank you to Skafloc for providing us with Stotties and Pease pudding for the weekend, and last of all all those pilots that I flew against who very kindly refrained from setting me on fire, even when I was captaining my Zeppelin.
This is a weekend that I will treasure for the rest of my days.
    Thank you my dear friends.

At last a moment to ourselves after the weekend of travel to distant partsof Europe.
Mary and I would like to thank you all for such a wonderful week end. We are currently christening the engraved glasses in our sons appartment in La Linea with some Woods Navy rum bought across the border in Gibraltar this morning for the princely sum of 5 pounds a litre. Thank you Rob
Thank you to one and all for you generous hospitality. It was a great pleasure to put names to faces and Avatars some old and some new Neil I'm not sure whether you look better in the flesh or on my dodgy Skype reception but the trip down food memory lane was fantastic. Thanks marra

Chris mentioned an idea that Andy had mooted for the future , please count me in as a willing participant, and Neil I am sure we can expand on the Skype across Europe idea.
Rob a particular pleasure to meet you in person. It would appear that our respective wives have similar passions\hobbies which stand me in good stead for future events
Booking the Premier Inn for next year.
    See you all again soon.

Paul it was a real pleasure to meet you and Mary, your lovely wife in person. It's only a pity you couldn't take some PP with you. Perhaps next time. Enjoy your holiday and I hope it is not to long that we can meet again and talk about our fantastic weekend of gaming. Paul cheers for staying with our table on Saturday and it was a pleasure to fly with you at Kaneohe Bay, even if I didn't last long as your wing man.

    Neil

PS: Take care my friends and safe journey home.

I have been pining away about how many people I know, and have played with (so it was Skype), that SWMBO is talking about a trip to England next fall.

    So:
Name. Forum name. Wanting to Attend. Location. Date
Mike. OldGuy59. Yes. Doncaster Air Museum. Late Sept 2015

This may include attendance by my Better Half, not sure about participation. There may be sightseeing or shopping that are higher on her priority list.

Did I mention that my Better Half was a marksman with a pistol? She was a crack shot at all her small arms qualifications when she was in the military. Not sure what that would have done for her, being that she was a Nurse. Had she been in a war zone, her patients would never fear for their lives under her care, neither from belligerents, nor poor care. As it was, it kept arguments at home to a minimum.

So, if she does decide to play, I'm not sure I would be gloating a lot.

If you do decide to enforce the above ban, should she wish to join in, I'd recommend wearing ballistic protection. You might be able to get further away, before the fatal shot.
