Question Manouver deck & stats for Aviatik C.I & C.II?

    G'day All!
I was browsing to see it the committee had produced stats for these two Aviatiks but could not find any.
Apologies if they are there somewhere I cant locate.
However as I have just done a "generic C.I which can be a C.II if required I need some info.
To assist from the Aerodrome Historical forum.
    Max speed 89 MPH.142 kph.
    Ceiling 11,480 ft.
    weight 2732 lbs/1242kgs
    One machine gun for Observer.
Any suggestions for the X deck for manouvers & a damage score?

    All help greatfully received.

On the latest stat sheet Barry,

    Aviatic (Berg). C1. J* B/B 14. Alt 14 climb 4. 17q3 to 18q4

Although the Aviatic Windsock pubs 63 does have the Aviatic as being in service from 1915

Further reading shows the Aviatic is under the German listing on the same sheet

    G*. B/B 12 Alt 10 climb 8. Q15

The Aviatik Berg C.I and Aviatik C.I are two very different aircraft.
The Aviatik C.I is just fast enough for G*, the boundary's at 140kph.

Aye Zoe, I realised that after I posted, which is why I did a bit more reading.
    I happily stand corrected

Yes & the C.I only had a rear firing Machine gun so only -/B for armament!

Thank you for the other stats. G* it will be.

The C1 had the observer with 1 mg sat in front ( as per the pic above), pilot was in the rear, so not sure why it B/B should be B/- ?
Maybe the stats committee can let us know why or the reasoning behind.

    Boney10,

the problem with the front-seated gunner in the Aviatic C.1 is that the gun was clamped to rails either side of his cockpit. The gunner could manually move the gun to either the left or right rail but this must have been a slow, cumbersome process and grossly inefficient (which is why later planes moved the gunner to the rear cockpit ant the pilot to the front). The gunner really cannot (safely) fire to the front (due to the propeller arc and a non-synchronized MG). The gunner would have some (limited) ability to fire to front left and right outside the propeller arc (similar to the unofficial firing arc proposed for the Bristol Scout), likewise he could fire to the rear left and right sides; not sure if he could actually fire to the rear due to the unusual weapon mount.

    Hi Chris,
Yes I agree with the front arc, rear firing was also limited, if at all I would think.
I was thinking of using the Roland base but using the spaces between the front and rear arc as the firing arc, thoughts anyone

Well I put my observer/gunner in the rear cockpit so it can work as a C.I or C.II so I will use the -/B & give a normal rear arc.
I think the Roland plan is just too restrictive.

I was going to use the 4 arc's similar to the BE2c cards in the file section. 30 degree forward to left and right and a slightly wider arc rear left and right. No firing directly to rear as the rear bars are just too close. Similar to the two on the left.Name: BE2 Card.jpg

Can I ask what the asterisk is beside the letter? I'm taking it that 'G' is the maneuver deck but what is the *?????
The reason I ask is my C.I is on its way from shapeways.

It means that you take the Immelmann (reversal) out of the maneuver deck.

When you have a look at the spreadsheet James where you see * decks listed there will be an explanation given in the notes against each aircraft.
