    Default Nieuport 12 Conversion?

    Hi all,

Could someone wiser than I please wax philosophic about whether or not it would be possible to convert a Nieuport 17 into a reasonable Nieuport 12 two-seater? The N.12 was a very well-used two-seater, used on its own in a recon mode, and also later as a two-seat escort for large French bombardment groups (30 aircraft). Sadly, nobody seems to make a N.12 in 1/144 scale, so I was wondering if the wings and fuselage of a N.17 could provide a reasonable basis for a conversion.

N.12s were used by the Brits, French, Belgians, and Italians. We need them!

Right looking shape but dimensionally wrong - Nieu12 is appx 23' long with 29'6" wingspan but Nieu17 is appx 19' long with 26'9" wingspan (& much smaller wing area); different engine too. Think you would have your work cut out to convert it !

If you can't get one of those, there's a kit of the 2-seater SPAD S-11 which might be of interest to you instead.

    Thanks, Flash.

    Poop.

Hey, maybe I can find a N17 in 1/131 scale! Then all I have to do is lengthen the fuselage a smidge (another 10%) and I'd be in business!!!

    .... or maybe not. Poop.

I saw that; it looks fine, although a bit later than I'd hoped (mid 1917 through early 1918). But it was used by the Belgians as well as the French and apparently some were transferred to the AEF as well, in early 1918.

Still, I was hoping for a Nieup.
