Default This is not in America. This is in my hometown!

There could not have been a better place to share my ORIGINS memoirs and photos I had taken in America - with the last members of my gaming group who have not heard the story before than a newly open American Restaurant "Papa Jack" in my town! What a fancy stuff "sixties style" they gathered there! What a delicious food they serve! I hope one day I can invite some forumers for a lunch there. Our American friends should feel more or less home there All are invited!

I want to share with you some pics of the exciting evening

A great looking restaurant! I found their website which is in English, complete with menu:

    http://www.papajack.pl/en/opole/

You do need to tell the owners if they are going to fly the Stars and Bars (Confederate battle flag), they need to add chicken fried steak and black eyed peas to the menu!

Looks very inviting Andy. Although I doubt very few places would dare fly the Confederate flag here.

One day my friend, I may just take you up on that.

You can still see the Confederate battle flag around in the South. However here in Texas the state flag, which was also the national flag of Texas before joining the United States, is far more predominate (possibly even more than the U. S. flag). I doubt there is another state that even comes close to Texas with the display of the state flag.

I can imagine that, Tommy but it is just a Very American Attraction here. My buddy did not realize what it symbolizes at all. Being an ACW buff, I was proud to tell him the story.

    Great location, wingman!

They really invested much in the décor.

Nice looking joint! I had to laugh when I saw the Confederate flag.

Great pics. I do like the Yankee Stadium plate above your head. And the Stars & Bars is something to see displayed like that. Food looks like a typical burger joint here.

Andrzej, thanks for the invite. When I am overseas I perfer to eat at non-american type eateries. I always told my shipmates when they told me they found Mickey D's, try the tradition food you will have a better meal. There is not alot of ethnic Poles here in Virginia atleast not like there was in Eastern Pennsylvania so the food selection not as good.

    I'll drink to that!

OK, chaps, I understand that this place may not be as nice for the American friends as it is for us but I do admire what the owners did to recreate the - according to their taste - atmosphere

Now take a look at the ceiling there...

Andrzej, I have always found the best part of any meal to be the company with whom I was eating. Something tells me dining with you and your friends would be memorable, regardless of the food or decor.

Stars and Bars forever.....now pass the spirits!

I was wondering, is their menu American cuisine?

The correct national flag for the CSA.

I noticed the burgers had "cucumbers" on them. I'm guessing that is referring to cucumbers in the pickled state.

Right on! The one with the crossed arms was the Confederate Battle Flag of which I have two.
And I have a Texas flag for the info of our Texan Forumites.
Yes I got sucked in by the ACW. Dont ask how many books & Osprey elite unit ones I have.

    Thumbs up

Love the Decor Andrzej! We have a Hungry Jacks which has similar Car seats & Hollywood posters & some American Car stuff but nothing like the scale of your one. Sounds like you had a great night.

Quite right, it is not a Stars n Bars, and by the proportions it is more akin to a late Army of Tennessee battleflag, although I suspect the manufacturer does not know that, and despite all the guff, it should simply identify that army.

In Ohio on I-71 about one mile north of exit 36.
I remember a barn in Lorain County Ohio having a painted Confederate Flag for many years.

That is the barn of the former Wizard of the KKK for this region (so I was once told). It is in Warren County though, not Lorain. Always thought it would be of great justice if an Afro-American Civil War reenactment group were to surround the place and do a Sherman impression!

First National colors after the Bonnie Blue Flag. Then the Stainless banner but looked like a White flag. Then the flag with the red stripe and finally the Stars & Bars. I have seen the Bonnie Blue flag flown with no second look because people have no idea what it is and that was on a Army base on a officers house.

In other words, it is OK to fly a politically incorrect flag as long as it is obscure and not easily recognized by the general public.

Some states have laws stating that flags flown on public flag poles must be U.S., state and city flags (no others).

The flag flown on a private flag pole is at the discretion of the owner.

We took him over to the North Market. The first place we saw was the Polish food stand!
