I want to share with you my joy, chaps. A real triumph of mine

My buddie's (Darek) wife Kamilla and Edyta, my wife are gamers. We play different boardgames together, but have never ever played any military themed ones with them. They hate shooting, assaulting and all the stuff we boys love so much

The girls saw us playing WoG many times, but never joined.
But in Prague I saw that my enthusiasm for WoG is slowly growing on my Good Lady...
And yesterday, after a "Forbidden Island" cooperative game I set up a simple dogfight and convinced Kamilla and Edyta to play with us. They chose my "yellow hearts" Dr.Is, while Darek and me took the sticks of Nieuports 17s and we played!!!

Boy, what a great time we all had! The girls got so involved in maneuvering right from the start! Just take a look:

We even let them communicate with each other and devise cunning plans...

Edyta was so enjoyed that she even put on my blue "Andrew AKA Nightbomber" t-shirt

Although the Ladies fought hard, the Men in Nieuports prevailed. We won both games (2:0, 2:0) [avoiding possible humiliation!].

That was a great Friday night and I hope many more will follow

The SO is willing to play WW1 with me, even tho' she freely admits she has no idea what she's doing.

Great fun! My lady is a gamer as well. She has played WoG with me a few times, but admittedly is not as in to military sim tabletop games as much as board games (as yours is, apparently). FYI - I recently played Forbidden Island and thought it was some good light coop fun.

Like so many of the ladies here, Eileen will do anything for the game, like the names on all the shirts, or running me up and down to shows, but has no interest in the actual game. even when we were in Spain and (Dragon one and two) Rob and Vicky and I got the planes out, she just watched.

As a blessed player and a husband, whose wife couldn't wait for next Friday to go for revenge, I was happy that Darek arranged a gaming night again at his place.
We played couple of interesting scenarios.

I. Our wives played aces (Kamilla: Jean Navarre, perfect aim, Edyta: Willy Coppens,daredevil, incendiary bullets). Darek an me showed up as regular Albatros opponents.
The Mens' team won. Both Entente aces were shot down. Well...I got both kills...

This is how it all started...

Soon the blue bird was tailed...

II. Then we played a recon misssion. Nightbomber briefed the Belgian flight...

But the flaming two seater was shot down over the city by the German team...twice. Escort fighters did not make their best...

III. Then I taught them a regular bombing mission

3 Nieuports 17. Nightbomber took the Gotha's stick and bombed the city, although his two gunners were killed on the way...

IV. Clash of the Aces! You can see both girls playing Tripe aces. Woooow!

The men were playing SE 5a aces...Me (on the left: Perfect Aim) Darek (on the right: Acrobatic Pilot).

Soon we caught the girls...they were in a fix...

I was lucky enough to shoot down Lothar...

While my buddy sent Manfred swiftly to the ground...

Boy, what a fun time we had! Girls got so involved...

Ah I see you needed some dutch (polish) courage. I learned the lesson years ago women and our beloved aircraft, toys to the girls, don't mix that well.

After coming back from holidays I arranged another Wives Gaming Friday.
This time we decided to test the Tripes! Our wives, Edyta and Kamilla took the Dr.Is, while Darek and me took the new Sopwith Triplanes "B" damage version (a handicap!).
It was a 2 hours "resurrection" style fight. Pilot once shot down was allowed to enter the fray after one turn.
Well, we had a real blast.
Kamilla, flying a DR.I was the winner, she shot down my buddy Darek, her husband, twice, scoring two kills.
I got one kill (Kamilla) with my green Sopwith (Hurrah!). Below yo can see some shots of the battle

Ouch! that was close, but the bases touch each other, so we consider them overlapping

Although wounded, I survived the onslaught

Air war, bloody war...
Last Friday we took our lovely SWMBOs back to 1916.
The first game: They were flying Fokkers E.III, while Darek and me took Moranes.

After a fierce fight my wingman was shot down in flames, while I was the "last man standing" in the air. French victory!

My wingman has just been down while I have been still flying wounded, until...Kamilla carefully placed her rounds into my bleeding head and I am down...

Do not loose your heart, Don. The main thing is to convince her it is not a game of roaring motors and killing other people, but of cunning planning and sneaky maneuvering and most of all - of predicting others' moves with the sixth sense. Girls think they are good in that (well sometimes they are). Good luck.
