We were in Ireland, Dublin for three years and living now in Portugal for another 2 years. And after ... who knows ... may be Prague or Oslo ...

    Default Lotus Land!

    West Coast of North America,
I thought I was all alone in my WoW Addiction, but now I have a support group from around the world, and they are willing to feed my habit. The world is a lot smaller these days, due the the miracles of modern science!

"Lotus Land" is an expression used in Canada for the balmy West Coast, the ideal (idealistic, utopian) place to live in our country (the lower part doesn't freeze solid in the winter, so the rest of the country is jealous).

    Speaking of feeding my habit,

Are there Skype Gamers out there interested in a two-on-two or three-on-three WGF game on 23-24 March 2013? I can arrange to host a video conference call up to two hours long for up to 10 people, if they (we) all have Skype. We can be anywhere in the world, if some people don't mind playing in the middle of the night, or early morning. Please enter your info on the Skype Players Forum, and PM me if you want to try this.

Although now I live in this town's suburbs, Opole is the town I was born and brought up, however my parents found their home here after the war. It is a middle size town of south-west part of Poland but has a very unique, mostly German history which can be seen in almost every street. I love to explore it's history, searching for old monuments and buildings. The town benefits from it's multinational (German, Czech, Polish) cultural history and it's quite convenient to live and work in. I can truly say it is my "Heimat". Here you can see the canal bank that is called Opole Venice.

The 13 hour drive is due to the moat (Strait of Georgia) and a few hills (Rocky Mountains). Straight line distance is only a bit under 500 miles / 750 kms. But you can't drive straight until you get over the hills, to the flat land in the Prairies.

I live in the upper left hand corner of Oregon. Astoria is the oldest American town on the west coast, founded in 1811, so that makes us young by some standards. My town is upriver from the mouth of the Columbia, but looking west I can see the bar of the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean (graveyard of the Pacific, but aren't all bars graveyards of something?). Looking 4 miles due north I see 4 miles of water and then the other bank. The Columbia is indeed a wide river and once a guest asked us what that island was over there (it was the state of Washington).

It takes time for to get used to things like political unions.
Some people round here still think the changes that took place in 1603 and 1707 were a bad idea!

Colchester, my home town, is a tiny bit older than that. Pliny the Elder mentions it in AD77.
I dare say the Memphis Egypt flight can trump that but hey

I count myself lucky enough to live on 31 acres in a smallish (8000 Pop) Rural town on the South Coast of NSW about 2 1/2 Hours South East from Canberra where Zoe lives. I moved from Sydney over 20 years ago & have no regrets. We have an active Games Club, an Aerodrome, excellent Hospital, golf, bowling & tennis clubs & they play all types of sports. I back onto a National Park & the Great Dividing Range plays a backdrop to our river.

    Map & pics follow.
